When it comes to eyecare in Ayurveda, it’s all about keeping things balanced, ya know? If you’re using mobile and PC a lot, no wonder your eye sight is taking a hit. First things first, let’s give those peepers some rest. Try the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. It’s like a mini yoga session for your eyes, really.
Now, you want cooling and cleansing? Triphala, my friend, is your buddy. It’s widely revered in Ayurveda. You can make triphala water—just soak a teaspoon of triphala powder in a glass of water overnight, and use the strained liquid to cleanse your eyes in the morning. Just be gentle while doing it. Your eyes deserve the spa treatment sometimes, right?
As for improving eyesight through diet, keep Kapha and Pitta doshas in balance. Dark leafy greens like spinach and kale are great, they pack a punch of vitamins that your eyes will love. Carrots, of course, with their beta-carotene, are classics too. Give your body good fats with ghee or almonds, they’re known to nourish the eyes.
For a herbal touch, eye massages with a bit of rose water or pure coconut oil can be soothing—just a little dab on your eyelids while you’re resting. It’s calming, you’d feel like you’re in a serene forest, well almost!
Don’t forget, consistent sleep improves eye health too. Aim for 7-8 hours if you can. Maybe ease off those screens at least 30 mins before bed, helps ya drift off to dreamland easier.
Of course, if you notice any sudden changes in your vision, maybe it’s time to consult an eye specialist. Ayurveda complements modern medicine, doesn’t replace it, remember? Keep at these little practices, slowly but surely, they’re steps in the right direction.
