Hydronephrosis - #18468
A few weeks ago, I started having pain in my lower back, mostly on my left side. At first, I thought it was just a muscle strain, but then the pain got worse, and I also noticed that I wasn’t urinating as much as usual. When I did, it felt uncomfortable, and the flow was weaker than before. After a few tests, my doctor told me I have hydronephrosis, which means my kidney is swollen because urine isn’t draining properly. I’m really worried because I don’t want this to lead to permanent kidney damage. The doctor mentioned that hydronephrosis can happen due to kidney stones, an infection, or even some kind of blockage. I don’t know what’s causing mine yet, but I want to see if Ayurveda has any natural treatments to help with this condition. Is there an Ayurvedic way to help the kidney drain urine better? Are there herbs or remedies that can reduce the swelling in the kidney and improve urine flow? I’ve read about Gokshura and Punarnava being good for kidney health—would these help with hydronephrosis? If so, how should I take them? I’m also trying to drink more water, but I’ve read that in some cases of hydronephrosis, too much water can make things worse. How do I know how much water I should be drinking? Does Ayurveda recommend specific foods or drinks to support kidney function and reduce swelling? Another thing I’m wondering is whether stress could be playing a role. I’ve been very anxious lately, and I know that stress can affect different organs in the body. Could stress be worsening my hydronephrosis? Are there Ayurvedic relaxation techniques that can help with both kidney function and overall well-being? Doctor, I really want to manage my hydronephrosis naturally and avoid any serious complications. What do you suggest? Should I change my diet, take specific herbs, or follow any particular Ayurvedic practices?
