Thyroid disorders, seeking natural Ayurvedic solutions - #18847

Anonymous

I have been suffering from severe headache attacks since 15/02/2024 and my symptoms have gradually become worse over the past few months. I first noticed a sharp, pulsating pain on the right side of my head that would last for several hours. Initially, the pain was intermittent, but over time it has increased in frequency and intensity. I have tried over-the-counter painkillers and some basic home remedies but nothing seems to offer long lasting relief. I attempted a short course of Ayurvedic treatment with herbal decoctions and oil massages starting on 01/03/2024, but the improvement was only minimal. Now, I experience the headache several times a week and sometimes it is accompanied by nausea and light sensitivity. Could you please provide me with advice on an effective Ayurvedic treatment plan to manage my migraine and reduce these severe attacks? I am also curious if certain lifestyle changes or dietary modifications recommended in Ayurveda might help in preventing further episodes.

Your symptoms suggest a Pitta-Vata imbalance. For relief, try Pathyadi Kashayam (as prescribed), Brahmi Ghrita (1 tsp with warm milk at bedtime), and Shadbindu Taila (2 nasal drops daily). Regular head massages with Chandanadi Thailam or Dhanwantharam Thailam can help. Adopt a cooling diet (avoid spicy, oily foods) and maintain a consistent sleep routine. Practice Sheetali Pranayama and Nadi Shodhana for stress relief. Consider Shirodhara therapy for lasting benefits. Consult an Ayurvedic doctor for personalized care.

Dear, Thank you for sharing your concerns. Based on your symptoms—sharp, pulsating headaches on the right side, increasing in frequency and intensity, along with nausea and light sensitivity—it is likely that you are experiencing migraine-like headaches. Ayurveda attributes such headaches primarily to an imbalance in Pitta and Vata doshas, often aggravated by stress, irregular diet, and lifestyle Saraswatarishta – 10 mL twice daily with equal quantity of water after food • Gentle oil massage on the forehead with Jatamansi taila or Karpuradi taila followed by steam inhalation can provide relief. • Avoid spicy, fermented, and processed foods, as they increase Pitta dosha. • Include cooling foods like ghee, milk, coconut water, and seasonal fruits. • Maintain regular meal timings and avoid fasting for long durations. • Hydration – Drink lukewarm water infused with coriander seeds. • Reduce screen time and stress levels, as they are common migraine triggers. • Wake up early (before sunrise) to align with the body’s natural rhythms. • Practice Nasya therapy (2 drops of Anu taila in each nostril every morning) to prevent recurrence. • Engage in Pranayama (deep breathing exercises) like Bhramari and Anulom-Vilom to reduce stress and improve oxygen flow. • Daily yoga (Shashankasana, Balasana) to relieve tension and improve blood circulation.

Practice Sheetali and Anulom Vilom Pranayama daily. Shirashooladi Vajra Ras 1 tablet twice daily after meals with warm water. Godanti Bhasma 250 mg twice daily with honey. Pathyadi Kashayam 15 ml twice daily before meals with warm water. Brahmi Ghrita 1 tsp at bedtime with warm milk. Nasya therapy with Anu Taila, 3-5 drops in each nostril daily morning. According to your symptoms there is vata and pitta dosha imbalance we should manage that dosha first for that you can start with nasya therapy in which you have to instill 2 drops of anutaila in each nostril every day in morning and than gargle with warm water do not ingest the oil. Along with that you have to take some medicine which are 1)sutsekar rasa 1 tab twice a day 2) brahmi ghrita 1tsp at bedtime with warm water if you can take ghee 3) pathyadi kashay 15 ml with warm water twice a day 4) you can try shatavari and yashtimadhu tea You have to make some lifestyle and dietary modification Avoid: Spicy, fried, fermented foods, excessive caffeine, and irregular meal timings. Include: Ghee, almonds, coconut water, and cooling foods. Yoga & Pranayama: Sheetali & Bhramari Pranayama can help reduce headaches. Daily routine: Head massage with Brahmi Taila or Kshirabala Taila.

bed bug bites - #19508

Anonymously

I don’t know what’s going on but my skin has been itching like crazy the past few days. At first, I thought it was just dry skin or maybe mosquito bites, but then I started noticing these small, red, swollen bumps in clusters, mostly on my arms, legs, and even my back. The itching is unbearable, especially at night. My friend said it might be bed bug bites, and now I feel like my whole body is crawling whenever I lay down. The weird thing is, I haven’t seen any actual bed bugs, but I read that they hide in mattresses and furniture, so now I’m paranoid. Last night, I barely got any sleep because of the itching, and I think scratching made it worse. Some of the bed bug bites are starting to swell up more than others, and a few even look like blisters. I tried applying some aloe vera and coconut oil, hoping it would soothe the irritation, but it’s not really helping much. I also tried washing my sheets and vacuuming my mattress, but I’m not sure if that’s enough. I really don’t want to use strong chemical creams or antihistamines, and I’m looking for a more natural way to get rid of this reaction. Is there anything in Ayurveda that can help with bed bug bites? Like herbs or oils that can reduce the itching and swelling? Also, is there something I can take internally to prevent these bites from getting infected? I’m also worried about scarring because I’ve scratched some of the bites so much they started bleeding. And what about preventing bed bug bites in the first place? Are there Ayurvedic remedies to keep them away? I don’t want to keep dealing with this, but I don’t know if they’re still hiding somewhere. Any suggestions on what to do next?

It sounds like you're experiencing significant discomfort, and it’s important to address this irritation while being mindful of your preferences for natural remedies. Given the symptoms you've described, your skin is likely experiencing a heightened pitta imbalance due to the itchiness and inflammation. To help alleviate the itching and swelling, I recommend applying a paste made from neem leaves, as neem possesses strong anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. You can prepare this by grinding fresh neem leaves with a little water until it forms a paste, then apply it to the affected areas. Leave it on for about 30 minutes before rinsing with cool water. You could also consider using a blend of sandalwood powder and rose water for its soothing qualities. Internally, bolster your body's immune response and help prevent infection by taking turmeric. Mix half a teaspoon of turmeric powder with a teaspoon of honey in warm water once daily. This aids in reducing inflammation and supports skin healing. Additionally, drinking cumin-infused water can be effective; simmer a teaspoon of cumin seeds in water, then strain and drink throughout the day to support digestion and overall health. For prevention against potential bed bug bites, consider incorporating a few drops of essential oils like lavender or eucalyptus into a carrier oil and applying it lightly to your skin as a repellent. They have properties that may deter bugs. Regularly vacuuming and using diatomaceous earth in areas where you suspect infestation can also help control bed bugs. Ensure you continue to wash your bedding in hot water weekly and consider using protective encasements on your mattress and pillows to limit bug access. Remember, while these recommendations can help manage itching and irritation, if symptoms persist or worsen, it may be advisable to consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation. Prioritize gentle care for your skin to avoid scarring as well.
