Gallbladder stones, also known as gallstones, can indeed be managed with Ayurvedc remedies, though it's important to understand that outcomes can vary from person to person. Ayurveda approaches gallstones with both dietary and lifestyle modifications, along with herbal treatments. However, in severe cases like when stones are causing significant blockage or pain, surgery might become necessary. For a start, it's important to understand the root cause—imbalanced Pitta dosha typically contributes to the formation of gallstones. Hence, focus is on pacifying Pitta and improving digestive function. Dietary changes are crucial. Reduce intake of fatty, spicy, and overly processed foods. Instead, opt for a diet rich in green leafy vegetables, whole grains, and increased water intake. Avoid oily foods and include turmeric and ginger, which help in digestion. Herbal treatments like Punarnava, Gokshura, and Triphala are commonly suggested. They assist in breaking down the stones and improving liver function. For instance, a decoction of Punarnava is often recommended to be taken twice daily. But the advice of qualified Ayurvedic practitioner should be sought for appropriate dose. Karela (bitter gourd) juice, taken on an empty stomach, is also traditionally recommended. Also, try having lemon juice mixed with warm water in the mornings to promote cleansing of the system. A regular routine with moderate, physical exercise is encouraged to improve digestion and maintain a healthy weight, which is a significant contributor to stone formation. Again, the severity of the condition really matters. If you are experiencing intense pain or any severe symptoms, it’s critical to consult a healthcare professional promptly. Ayurveda can be a supportive system, but it should not replace urgent medical treatment in acute situations.
