Doctors' responses

Increasing height at the age of 22 can be challenging since most people reach full height by the end of the teenage years, when the growth plates in the long bones close. However, Ayurveda does offer some avenues to potentially aid this goal by optimizing overall health and well-being, which could include strengthening the spine and improving posture. Let’s explore some options:

While moringa and ashwagandha are beneficial herbs that have numerous health benefits, there’s no strong evidence that they directly impact height. Ashwagandha, or “Indian ginseng”, is known in Ayurveda for its adaptogenic and rejuvenative properties, which might help with overall strength and vitality. It can support body metabolism and help you feel energetic during practices like yoga, that can aid in improving posture and flexibility.

Certain yoga practices might help you appear taller by aligning the spine and improving posture. Poses like Tadasana (Mountain Pose), Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose), and Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) focus on spine flexibility and posture correction. Regular practice might give a slight extension visually.

Additionally, focusing on a diet rich in vitamins and minerals, ensuring adequate protein intake, and maintaining good digestive health (enhancing agni) is crucial. Foods such as dairy, leafy greens, nuts, and seeds provide calcium and magnesium for bone health. Make sure to follow your natural prakriti (constitution) while planning your meals.

Please be mindful that quick fixes are unlikely. Building a regular routine incorporating these holistic practices can gradually support your goal. If considering supplements or significant lifestyle changes, consulting with an ayurvedic practitioner will ensure these plans are tailored for your unique needs, considering dosha imbalances and health status.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
