can turmeric remove pimples - #23940

Hudson

I am dealing with this really annoying acne issue, and I’ve been trying everything since last summer, but nothing seems to work! A friend mentioned that turmeric is known for its healing properties and can turmeric remove pimples? I mean, I’ve read about the benefits, but I’m not sure how effective it actually is. I've tried creams and some medications, but honestly, they’ve only made my skin feel worse. Also, I’ve noticed some red spots are left over after the pimples heal, which is just a whole other hassle, right? I'm thinking of just making a turmeric paste and applying it directly, but like, how often should I do that? Or, is there a better way to use turmeric to tackle these breakouts? I really wanna know if can turmeric remove pimples as some say. Any experiences or advice would be super helpful! Thanks!!

Doctors' responses

Turmeric could indeed be beneficial for acne, thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, which have been acknowledged in Ayurveda for centuries. However, it is important to approach it carefully, especially since it seems that your skin isn’t responding well to other treatments.

If you’re considering a turmeric paste, start by mixing a small amount of turmeric powder with water or a base like yogurt, which is a natural moisturizer. Apply this paste gently to your face, focusing on the areas where acne is most prevalent. Be cautious about overdoing it - start by applying this paste 2 to 3 times a week to see how your skin reacts.

It’s also worth considering your prakriti (unique constitution) and specific dosha imbalance that might be contributing to your acne. Acne can often be a result of excess pitta dosha, the element associated with heat and inflammation in the body. You might notice aggravating factors like stress, spicy food, and excessive heat further worsening your condition.

Pay attention to your diet - it’s crucial for balancing doshas. Include cooling foods such as cucumber, cilantro, and coconut water in your diet to help balance Pitta. Avoid processed foods, excess sugar and spicy foods, which can exacerbate inflammation.

For the reddish spots post-acne, turmeric paste might help with that too, over time, but remember to be patient; skin healing is naturally a gradual process. Adding sandalwood powder to your turmeric paste can further help to soothe the skin and promote more even coloration.

However, if your acne persists or worsens, it’s important to seek guidance from a healthcare professional to ensure there aren’t underlying issues needing attention. Remember to do a patch test with turmeric first to avoid any unnecessary reactions. Keep monitoring how your skin responds and adjust the frequency and concentration accordingly. 안전이 최고니까요!
