Doctors' responses

To address your concerns of eye strain, PCOS, and pre-diabetes, it’s important to follow a holistic approach that integrates lifestyle, diet, and Ayurvedic practices. For eye strain, ensure you take regular breaks from the laptop using the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds) and adjust your screen brightness and position to reduce strain. Use eye exercises like blinking frequently, palming, and rolling your eyes to relax the muscles. Ayurvedic herbs like Triphala can help support eye health and reduce strain. For PCOS and pre-diabetes, focus on a balanced diet with low-glycemic foods such as whole grains, legumes, vegetables, and lean proteins. Incorporate spices like cinnamon, turmeric, and fenugreek to help manage blood sugar levels. Regular physical activity, such as walking, yoga, or strength training, can help regulate insulin sensitivity and manage PCOS symptoms. It’s also important to get enough sleep and manage stress through mindfulness or meditation to keep hormones balanced. Regular Ayurvedic consultations can also guide you in choosing herbs like Ashwagandha, Shatavari, and Guduchi to support hormonal balance and overall wellness.

Good you’ve mentioned the details, helps a lot :) Eye strain and dry eyes, especially when you’re staring at screens for long, ugh! So first - take frequent breaks, seriously. The 20-20-20 rule is golden: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away, for at least 20 seconds. Easy, just need to develop this habit.

Let’s talk about your diet, which is pretty crucial. Given your PCOS and pre-diabetes, keeping your diet balanced is super key. Try to include more green leafy veggies, whole grains, and fibrous foods. Bitter gourd (karela) can be great coz it might help with blood sugar stability, plus provides good nourishment for your eyes. Stay clear of processed foods and refined sugars - they’re not your friends.

For eyes, triphala is brilliant. You can make a simple triphala eyewash. Soak triphala powder overnight in water (filtered is best), strain in the morning, and use that water to splash your eyes gently. It gives relief, promise.

And, ghee-eye drops (NETRA TARPANA) that’s another one! No, not directly, but a pinch of triphala mixed with ghee and kept on a sterile cloth over closed eyes each night can be calming.

Also, hydration is important - dehydration only makes things worse. Drink water, herb teas, maybe tulsi or ginger, tweak a bit based on your taste.

For your stress levels, since eye issues are very pitta dosha linked, practicing cooling breathing exercises like Sheetali or Sheetkari pranayama can reduce heat in the body. They balance pitta and soothe your mood.

Since your prakriti (body constitution) is likely somewhat sensitive due to the -7 power, ensure you’ve prescription glasses that block blue light; they’re quite beneficial.

Just keep at it, know you’re dealing with multiple things, but small changes can pile up positivity. When you’re uncertain about something, check in with your ayurvedic specialist, especially when it’s health there are no stupid questions - just ask!
