does masturabation cause hormonal imbalance - #39854

Noah

I am really confused about something and hoping someone here can help me out. Recently, I've been reading about how does masturbation cause hormonal imbalance, and it’s been bothering me a bit. I’m a 28-year-old male and have been kind of stressed lately with work and everything, and I’ve noticed that my energy levels are kind of all over the place. I mean, some days I feel super pumped, while other days I just crash, like after doing it, I feel kind of drained? Also, I've started to have these weird cravings for junk food, which is not like me at all. I used to eat pretty healthy, but now it’s like I can't resist those chips and sweets. I’ve even checked my testosterone levels and everything, but they seem to be normal… or at least that’s what my doc said. But I can't shake the feeling that maybe this has something to do with how does masturbation cause hormonal imbalance. Like, I always thought it was just a normal part of life, but now I’m seriously questioning if too much of it could be messing with my hormones. Anyone else feel like this or know if there’s a link? Should I be concerned about this? Thanks in advance!

Doctors' responses

Masturbation, as a natural part of human sexuality, typically doesn’t cause hormonal imbalance in a healthy adult. However, how a person feels after masturbation can vary, and this could be tied to other factors like stress, diet, and lifestyle habits rather than masturbation itself. According to Ayurveda, balance in life is key, and when stress or other factors are present, they might get amplified through other activities, including masturbation.

Regarding your fluctuating energy levels, pressure from work, or irregular sleeping patterns often plays a significant role. It might help to assess these aspects of your life first. That feeling of being drained could arises out of overstimulation or fatigue from other stressors. In this case, considering gentle Ayurvedic practices may support you. Try “Brahmari Pranayama”, a soothing breathing exercise, every day to calm the mind and reduce any vata imbalance that could contribute to restlessness and fatigue.

For your food cravings, there’s a possibility that this represents an imbalance. Ayurvedic principles would suggest enhancing your agni (digestive fire) to help control these cravings. Consider sipping hot water throughout the day with a pinch of ginger to aid digestion and balance your kapha dosha, which may be elevated creating those sweet cravings.

Pay attention to your diet focusing on sattvic foods - fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, seeds, and nuts - can help maintain your mental clarity and physical balance.

If your energy swings and food cravings persist or worsen, despite following a balanced routine, reflecting more deeply into current stressors, may be wise. Every individual is unique, even if testosterone levels are within normal they might be relative to your current physical and emotional needs. It’s always a prudent step to follow-up with healthcare provider if any changes in your health are sustained.

Ultimately, masturbation itself is unlikely to be the root cause of your concerns. Addressing lifestyle strategies aligning with your unique constitution may lead to better overall balance and wellness.
