Doctors' responses
It’s important to address your thyroid and neck issues through targeted Ayurvedic approaches, given your preference to avoid allopathic treatments. High TSH with normal T3 and T4 indicates subclinical hypothyroidism, which can affect metabolism and cholesterol levels. Incorporating the right diet and lifestyle changes can help.
Focusing on Tridosha, particularly balancing your Kapha which might be contributing to high cholesterol levels, is key. Begin your day with a glass of warm water mixed with honey and lemon to enhance metabolism and reduce kapha dosha. Have a light breakfast — consider warm foods like vegetable stew or soups, avoiding oily or processed foods.
For meals, include high-fiber vegetables like spinach and broccoli which also help tackle cholesterol and support thyroid function. Include spices like cumin, ginger, turmeric, which aid in digestion. Avoid cold drinks and cold foods, as they might increase Ama (toxins) in the body.
Regarding herbal support, you can introduce triphala at night (as a digestive aid) and Ashwagandha powder taken with warm milk in the morning. Both can support thyroid health and general energy levels. Consider practicing neck Pranayama exercises like Bhramari to support neck and spine health, but if neck pain persists, consult an Ayurvedic practitioner for possible Panchakarma therapies such as Nasya or Abhyanga.
Pay attention to your activities and posture throughout the day; poor posture could aggravate neck pain. Also, ensure regular gentle movements and stretching; yoga asanas like Cat-Cow or Bhujangasana might help.
Due to high triglycerides and cholesterol, it’s crucial to follow up with regular health check-ups and remain open to seeking medical advice if symptoms worsen. Your health should always be a priority and balancing Ayurveda with occasional allopathic support might be beneficial.
