Doctors' responses

If blood is dripping from a 1-year-old baby’s anus during stool, and the baby seems uncomfortable while passing stool, the most common cause at this age is usually a small anal fissure (tiny tear in the anal canal). Sometimes this tear may be inside the anal canal and not easily visible from outside, especially when the stool is slightly hard or the baby strains during bowel movement. Even when the stool looks normal, straining can still cause irritation and bleeding. Another possible reason could be constipation, mild rectal inflammation, or food-related irritation, but the fact that the baby is otherwise active and healthy is reassuring. Things you can do at home Keep the stool soft: Give adequate fluids along with breastfeeding. You can include foods like well-cooked vegetables, mashed fruits (banana, papaya, pear), and a little ghee in food to help soften stools. Warm water sitz bath: Let the baby sit in lukewarm water with 1 spoon boric acid powder in it for 5–10 minutes once or twice daily. This helps relax the anal muscles and promotes healing. Apply gentle lubrication: A small amount of pure coconut oil or ghee around the anal area after cleaning can help reduce irritation and ease stool passage. At Night before bed you can put cotton soaked in Jatyadi oil inside the anus or you can just apply this oil with cotton inside anus this oil increases healing Avoid straining: Ensure the baby is not holding stool for long periods. Regular meal timing can help regulate bowel movement. Maintain good hygiene and clean the area gently after every stool to prevent further irritation.
