Because he has adenoids, snoring, mouth breathing, and possible sleep apnea, an ENT evaluation is strongly recommended. If breathing pauses during sleep are frequent, medical assessment should not be delayed.

Consulting the ayuevedic pediatric specialist for better examination and treatment
••I understand how stressful and exhausting it must be to watch your little one struggle to breathe comfortably, especially when dealing with the combination of constant colds, wheezing, and now disrupted sleep from adenoid hypertrophy. ••Because your son is only 3 years old and already on crucial conventional medications (Montelukast and a corticosteroid inhaler), Ayurveda must be used as a safe, gentle, and supportive therapy alongside his current treatment. Never stop or reduce his inhaler or Montelukast without consulting his pediatrician. Here is a holistic, pediatric-safe Ayurvedic approach to help shrink the adenoids, reduce tissue inflammation, and boost his immunity: 1. Internal Ayurvedic Formulations (Immunity & Decongestion) For a 3-year-old, the doses must be very small and are typically administered with soothing bases like honey or warm water. ••Aravindasavam: This is an excellent, mild classical pediatric tonic in Ayurveda. It improves overall immunity, aids digestion (which is closely linked to respiratory health), and helps the body fight recurrent viral infections. ••Suggested Dosage: 2.5 ml to 5 ml with an equal quantity of lukewarm water, twice daily after meals. ••Agastya Haritaki Rasayana: A time-tested rejuvenating jam specifically for chronic respiratory issues, asthma, and recurring colds. It helps clear deep-seated Kapha. Suggested Dosage: Less than 1/4 teaspoon twice a day, mixed with warm water or a little honey. ••Sitopaladi Churna: A safe, gentle powder made from rock candy, cinnamon, cardamom, and long pepper. It acts as a natural antihistamine and anti-inflammatory for the upper respiratory tract. ••Suggested Dosage: A pinch (around 250 mg) mixed thoroughly with honey, given 2–3 times a day. 2. External & Topical Therapies Since the adenoids are physically blocking the nasal passage, local therapy helps reduce tissue swelling and encourages nasal breathing. ••Pratimarsha Nasya (Mild Nasal Drops): Apply 1 drop of Anu Tailam or pure Kshadghrita (Cow’s Ghee) into each nostril in the morning. •How it helps: It lubricates the nasal passages, reduces the hypersensitivity of the mucous membranes, and helps clear blockages. Note: Ensure he is calm, and do not do this during an active, high-grade fever. ••Gentle Chest & Throat Rub: Warm a small amount of Karpooradi Thailam (or sesame oil infused with a tiny pinch of camphor). Gently massage it onto his chest, back, and around the throat/neck area before bedtime, followed by a warm compress (like a warm dry cloth). This relieves nocturnal congestion and reduces snoring. 3. Dietary Adjustments (Ahara) To stop the constant production of excess, sticky mucus (Kapha), certain foods need to be strictly managed: ••Avoid Strict Kapha-Aggravating Foods: Avoid giving him cold milk, yogurt, bananas, ice cream, processed sugars, and deep-fried foods, especially after sunset. ••Optimize Milk Consumption: If he drinks cow’s milk, ensure it is served warm. Boil it with a small pinch of turmeric (Haridra) and a tiny pinch of dry ginger powder (Shunti) or black pepper to make it lighter and digest easily without forming excess mucus. ••Warm Hydration: Give him sips of lukewarm water throughout the day to keep the airways hydrated and flush out toxins.
