Struggling with Exhaustion and Digestive Issues - #44801

Client_a86b3a

Hello! I am off work in burnout for several month now, I see regularly a psychologist and I also practice some spiritual practices daily. On the emotional side things are going well, but physically I don’t see much improvement, I am still exhausted almost all the time even if in the last 6 months I am getting 8-9h sleep and I am finally getting good sleep without interruptions. I am 40, I have a very demanding job and for 6 years now, since my son was born I haven’t had good night sleep, constantly waking up multiple times a night, Concentration and brain fog seam to still be there sometimes. My digestive system it’s not working good, I am often bloated, have a lot of gas and constipation. My diet is approximately 80% vegetarian, I usually don’t eat breakfast and sometimes when I eat bigger meals usually meat that I feel too heavy or make me sick I am water fasting for up to 3 days. I sometimes eat sweets uncontrollably and I am thinking to get a deeper detox and parasite cleanse treatment. Thank you for any advice and suggestions!

Your exhaustion and digestive concerns suggest a prominent imbalance in the Vata dosha, typical for disruptions like burnout and inconsistency in routine. Restoring balance involves a multifaceted approach, beginning with a diet and lifestyle reset.

First, focus on regularizing your meal times. Skipping breakfast disrupts agni, your digestive fire. Start with a light breakfast like warm oatmeal or stewed apples with cinnamon to kindle your digestive fire. Favor warm, cooked, and easy-to-digest foods over raw and cold options. Lentil soups, rice, and steamed vegetables support agni without straining it, while avoiding heavy meals or meats that feel overwhelming.

For digestive issues like bloating and gas, incorporate spices like cumin, fennel, and ginger into your meals. They can alleviate discomfort and aid digestion. A cup of CCF tea (cumin, coriander, fennel) after meals may ease symptoms and encourage regular bowel movements.

Given your uncontrollable cravings for sweets, focus on balanced meals to reduce spikes in blood sugar levels, which often triggers cravings. Opt for naturally sweet fruits like berries or dates as snacks. Hydration is vital but avoid extremely cold drinks; instead, sip warm water throughout the day.

Practicing regularity in sleep and daily activities is vital. Establish a soothing pre-sleep routine to reinforce restful sleep. A warm bath or gentle self-massage (abhyanga) with sesame oil can calm the nervous system.

Regarding detox or parasite cleanse, it’s crucial to proceed with caution as drastic measures can aggravate Vata. Consult an Ayurvedic practitioner for a personalized and safe detox protocol, just don’t jump into intense cleanses without guidance.

Lastly, prioritize grounding activities like yoga or meditation over excessive physical exertion, which can deplete energy levels further. Understanding your body’s signals and supporting it with the appropriate Ayurvedic routines will gradually bring resilience and vitality back into your life.
