Seeking Ayurvedic Program for Overall Health and Breath Issues - #45127

Client_6237fc

Hello, I am a Vata. I took a test online and started to follow that diet as much as possible. What I really would like have a program that handles my body. Firstly, since I was 12 I had bad breath - it got better after my tonsils were removed (I was sick a lot with tonsillitis) but I still have it off and on and I am now 71. I could never solve it. Secondly I supersensitive for food and in generally. I have a big problem with EMF (Electric magnetic field like internet, phones etc. It affects my nerves and I get brain-fog from it. Food is the second problem there are so many things I can't eat (no junk food at all) I am mainly vegetarian but eat some red meat ( ground beef). And I need to gain some weight and with the Ayurveda diet I lost some weight I had just manage to gain. Yes, I have been sick a lot in the past and I had 4 surgeries (tonsil removed, polyp removed in nose, hysterectomy and removed part of colon as had cancer. I do have emphysema but it doesn't effect me at all so is just in beginning stage and I try to keep it that way. What have saved my life is Kaqun which is high amount of oxygen baths and also drinking water. I am in good shape for 71. I am working, going to the gym and in action. My body was scanned at the gym and it was measured as 59 years (thanks to Kaqun). I do want to deal with my body so the liquid in the body is flowing (I have always been close to anemic) and no lodged toxin in the body. Thank you! Caroline

It appears you’re dealing with a complex blend of issues, Caroline. Starting with bad breath, you’ll want to focus on your agni and oral health. Gargling with warm water and turmeric can help, as turmeric has antiseptic properties. Try 1/4 teaspoon mixed in warm water twice daily. Also, consider triphala churna, an Ayurvedic formulation that aids digestion and detoxifies the body, which can address root digestive causes of bad breath. Take 1 teaspoon with warm water every night before bed.

For your Vata dosha, maintaining warmth and moisture is key. Incorporate grounding and nourishing foods like cooked grains (rice, quinoa), root vegetables (sweet potatoes, carrots), and warm milks. Hot teas infused with ginger or cinnamon can stabilize nerves. Avoid raw and cold foods that could further aggravate Vata. To help with weight gain, adding a tablespoon of ghee to your meals can support nourishment and digestion.

EMF sensitivity can be tricky, but grounding techniques such as barefoot walking on natural surfaces, like grass or soil, can help stabilize Vata’s unsteady nature. Practice yoga and pranayama like “Anulom Vilom” (alternate nostril breathing) to calm your nervous system. Your brain fog may improve with ashwagandha or brahmi supplements, which support the mind and resilience to stress. Speak with a qualified ayurvedic practitioner before starting any new herbs.

For your anemia, focus on iron-rich foods like lentils and blackstrap molasses. Mixing with vitamin C-rich fruits like citrus can enhance absorption. Daily abhyanga (oil massage) with sesame oil will increase circulation and support detoxification. start from your head and work down to your feet.

Continue your current exercise routine but monitor energy levels and hydration. Continue Kaqun baths but also consider basic detox practices like dry brushing to support lymphatic flow. Adjust your routine based on how your body feels, and do seek personalized guidance from an Ayurvedic practitioner familiar with your detailed medical history and conditions to address nuances potentially missed in online advice.

Caroline, given your Vata constitution and the health issues you’ve mentioned, we can work on creating a tailored approach to address your specific concerns. Vata types often benefit from warmth, routine, and grounding practices, which can also alleviate symptoms like bad breath, EMF sensitivity, and help with weight management.

For your bad breath, we need to ensure good digestive health as that can be a root cause. Promote your Agni, or digestive fire, by consuming warm, well-spiced foods. Opt for warm ginger tea before meals to stimulate digestion. Avoid overly dry or raw foods, as these can aggravate Vata. Triphala, a traditional Ayurvedic formulation, can also help maintain digestive regularity and detoxify your system. For oral health, consider oil pulling with sesame or coconut oil, swishing it in your mouth for about 15 minutes before brushing.

Your sensitivity to EMF suggests a need for grounding and calming practices. Incorporate daily Abhyanga, self-massage with warm sesame oil, to stabilize Vata and soothe your nerves. A consistent daily routine, meditation, and yoga nidra are known to be grounding for Vata imbalances.

Regarding dietary restrictions and weight gain, focus on nutrient-dense, easy-to-digest foods. Cooked oats, soups, and stews with healthy fats like ghee could provide nourishment. Ensure to consume meals at regular intervals to maintain energy levels. Red meat should be consumed in moderation, primarily if it is grounding for you, but listen to your body’s signals closely.

Given your history of surgeries and medical conditions, particularly emphysema, monitor this closely with a healthcare provider. Though you feel it’s in the early stages, its impacts can be gradual and significant. Keep focusing on strengthening your respiratory system, perhaps with pranayama practices that suit your capacity, like Bhramari or Anulom Vilom.

Since anemia has been a concern, iron-rich herbs like Ashwagandha might help support your energy levels and overall vitality. However, always confirm with your healthcare professional before integrating new supplements, especially given your extensive medical history.

Keeping this balance will help maintain your current health, while addressing Vata imbalances.
