Doctors' responses

The symptoms you’re experiencing after Covid-19 are pointing towards a potential imbalance in your dosha, particularly Vata and Kapha. Covid recovery often involves lingering symptoms that might manifest as hormonal imbalance, fatigue, or cognitive issues. The elevated HS CRP indicates inflammation, while a TSH of 11 suggests hypothyroidism, which can contribute to weight, fatigue, and menstrual irregularities.

To address the imbalance here’s a structured Ayurvedic approach:

1. Diet: Focus on a diet that balances Vata and Kapha. Favor warm, cooked foods, like whole grains (millet, rice), vegetables (carrots, pumpkin), and ghee-cooked meals. Avoid excessive raw foods, processed sugar, caffeine and cold foods. Incorporate spices like ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, and cumin that enhance Agni (digestive fire) and reduce inflammation.

2. Daily Routine: Establish a consistent daily routine to stabilize Vata. Aim for proper sleep patterns (7-9 hours), retiring early, and waking up by sunrise to strengthen your circadian rhythm. Incorporate moderate exercise like walking or yoga, focusing on grounding techniques.

3. Herborial Support: Consider herbs like Ashwagandha for stamina and calming, Shatavari for hormonal balance, and Triphala for digestion. Brahmi can assist with brain fog and memory. These should be consumed after meals as powder or tablets.

4. Oil Massage: Perform Abhyanga (oil massage) with warm sesame oil before you shower to reduce vata imbalance; its calming effect will also promote circulation and ease muscle pain, helping with that belly area.

5. Monitor Thyroid: Continue regular consult with an ayurvedic practitioner and maybe an endocrinologist to monitor thyroid levels. It’s cruscial to manage any further medications or interventions collaboratively.

To ensure thorough healing, adopting these habits consistently can be essential. If symptoms persist or worsen, especially with thyroid issues, always consider immediate medical evaluation. While Ayurveda offers a holistic path, aligning it with modern medical guidance will provide a safer, well-rounded approach to your health needs.

It appears you are experiencing a range of post-Covid symptoms, with some suggesting significant hormonal imbalances. The elevated TSH level indicates potential hypothyroidism, while the increased CRP suggests inflammation. The absence of your periods, weight gain, and skin changes may hint at hormonal disturbances, possibly affecting the pitta dosha and kapha dosha.

To address these concerns through the Siddha-Ayurvedic lens, it is crucial to balance these doshas and enhance your digestive fire (agni). Begin by focusing on diet. Prioritize warm, easily digestible foods like soupy dal, cooked greens, and fresh, seasonal fruits. Avoid heavy, overly processed, or cold foods, which can further disturb kapha.

Turmeric and ginger are excellent for reducing inflammation and managing agni. Drinking a decoction of these spices daily in warm water can support this process. Integrate triphala powder, a staple in Ayurveda, which aids in detoxifying and maintains regular bowel movements — take 1 teaspoon with warm water before bed.

For thyroid support, consider incorporating ashwagandha (withania somnifera), known for balancing hormones and managing stress. A single dose of 500 mg standardized extract daily may be fitting. Regular practice of pranayama and light physical activity, like brisk walking or yoga, can aid in taming kapha and stabilizing mental functions.

The continuation of these symptoms, especially the elevated TSH, necessitates consultation with a healthcare professional for thyroid function evaluation and appropriate therapy. Supplements, lifestyle changes, and self-care can support conventional treatment but do not replace medical assessment. Addressing these concerns comprehensively relies on integration between Siddha-Ayurveda and modern medicine.
