Precisely considering your young son’s cough and chest congestion, there are a few aspects worth evaluating to decide if his treatment is comprehensive. Dasamoolakaduthraya Kashayam and Agasthya Rasayanam are both excellant choices, as they are known to alleviate respiratory discomfort by pacifying Vata and Kapha doshas that may be causing imbalance. Administering these together forms a strong base for treating coughs and congestion.

However, closely monitor his symptoms. Cough in a child indicates an imbalance, and while these remedies do help to an extent, ensuring an appropriate dosage and frequency is crucial. For Dasamoolakaduthraya Kashayam, continuing 5 ml thrice a day mixed with 30 ml warm water sounds apt for his age unless otherwise advised by an Ayurveda practitioner.

Agasthya Rasayanam, given the right quantity, is usually supportive. Around 1 to 2 grams, roughly 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon twice a day, depending on his digestive capacity, can be beneficial, but refrain from “frequent” dosing without clear guidance. It’s natural to want quick results, yet be careful not overuse such formulations in frequency which children’s systems might not tolerate well.

Moreover, additional remedies could enhance his recovery. Light and easily digestible meals are advisable; avoid dairy products as they might increase mucus. Offering warm water or Tulsi herbal tea may soothe his throat and reduce congestion. Applying warm Tila (sesame) oil to his chest will also help—this can gently promote better breathing and ease congestion.

Focus on maintaining a steady, warm environment. Wrap around a scarf if necessary to keep the throat protected! Finally, check with your local Ayurveda expert or pediatrician to ensure that the treatment adjusts if symptoms persist or worsen, ensuring his safety and well-being the utmost.

It looks like you’re on the right track with using dasamoolakaduthraya kashyam and agasthiya rasayanam for your son’s cough and chest congestion, as these formulations are appropriate for respiratory issues. Dasamoolakaduthraya kashyam helps balance the vata dosha and assists in clearing respiratory pathways, while agasthiya rasayanam can support respiratory health and act as a tonic.

For a more comprehensive approach, consider the following adjustments. Ensure your son is consuming warm fluids throughout the day, as hydration is beneficial for loosening mucus. You might try warm water mixed with a little honey and ginger, given in small sips—this can aid in soothing the throat and helping the cough.

Steam inhalation may be helpful too. A simple setup could include hot water in a bowl with a towel over his head to trap the steam. Just be careful so as to avoid burns. Doing this for a few minutes, twice daily, can help open up his airways.

Also, keep his eating light and avoid mucus-producing foods like dairy, sugary items, and cold food. Stick to easily digestible meals, perhaps rice porridge, soups, and steamed vegetables, which support agni, or digestive fire, without increasing kapha.

Lastly, monitor his symptoms closely. If the cough persists beyond a week or he develops a fever, difficulty breathing, or shows signs of dehydration, seek immediate medical evaluation to rule out any serious condition.

Adherence to Siddha-Ayurvedic insights demands consideration of the child’s unique prakriti and symptoms—something a local Ayurvedic practitioner could explore more specifically should it be needed.
