Shatavari is indeed renowned for its benefits, particularly in balancing Pitta dosha, which is often elevated during menopause causing symptoms like hot flushes and reflux. While it’s great to hear that you’re experiencing relief with Shatavari for reflux, hot flushes might need a more comprehensive approach.

To target hot flushes, you may combine Shatavari with other cooling herbs and practices. First, consider adding Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) to your regimen; known for its cooling properties, Brahmi can help with emotional stability and reduce heat in the body. Take Brahmi powder or capsules as directed, ideally in the evening before bed to support restful sleep.

Additionally, include dietary changes. Incorporate foods that are naturally cooling, such as cucumber, watermelon, and fresh mint. Avoid hot, spicy, and pungent foods that can exacerbate Pitta imbalances. It’s also beneficial to stay hydrated with cool herbal teas like peppermint or chamomile throughout the day.

As for lifestyle, practicing cooling Pranayama, such as Sheetali or Sheetkari, can effectively help manage body temperature. Perform these breathing exercises in a quiet spot for about 10 minutes each morning or when feeling overheated.

Ensure you maintain a calming routine and get adequate sleep, as hormonal changes can often disrupt rest, exacerbating symptoms. However, if symptoms persist, it’s crucial to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner or healthcare professional, especially if they disrupt daily life. It’s important to monitor how your body responds to these combinations to avoid any adverse effects.

Avoid synthetic fabrics and opt for breathable, natural fibers which can offer comfort and reduce the intensity of hot flushes. Ayurvedic oil massages with cooling oils like coconut oil can also be soothing. By integrating these thoughtful adjustments and therapies, you should find better balance and relief in managing menopausal symptoms alongside your use of Shatavari.

Yes, you can combine shatavari with other cooling remedies to help address your menopausal hot flushes. Shatavari is excellent for balancing pitta dosha, which can help with hot sensations, but sometimes supplementary support is needed. One effective complementary remedy is amalaki (also known as Indian gooseberry), which is cooling and helps balance pitta. You can take amalaki powder or tablets, typically 1-2 teaspoons of the powder mixed in water or as directed on supplement packaging, ideally twice a day.

Another option is to include coriander seeds in your diet. You can soak one tablespoon of coriander seeds in a cup of water overnight, strain, and drink it in the morning. This simple infusion helps dissipate excess heat from the body.

Consider incorporating aloe vera juice into your routine. Drinking 2 tablespoons of aloe vera juice on an empty stomach in the morning is helpful to balance your pitta and provides cooling effect.

Ensure you’re staying hydrated with plenty of fresh, cool water and herbal teas like mint or chamomile. These are naturally cooling and contribute to overall pitta balance.

While these remedies can be helpful, it’s important to monitor your symptoms and consult a healthcare professional if your symptoms persist or worsen. They might evaluate whether combining herbs is the best approach for your unique constitution and ensure that no underlying issues are being overlooked.
