Doctors' responses
For addressing severe vitamin D deficiency, it’s crucial to naturally boost your vitamin levels through diet and safe sun exposure. Spend about 15-20 minutes basking in the gentle morning sun, preferably before 10 AM, to facilitate natural vitamin D synthesis. In terms of your diet, incorporate foods rich in vitamin D such as mushrooms, fortified milks like almond or soy milk, and fatty fish like salmon and mackerel.
For your high Pitta imbalance, consider consuming cooling foods to balance the body’s heat. Including cucumbers, mint, cilantro and melons in your diet can be beneficial. Try drinking aloe vera juice (1-2 tablespoons before meals), as it’s known to soothe Pitta dosha. Avoid overly spicy, sour, and fried foods which can aggravate Pitta.
Regarding hair concerns, an effective remedy is massaging your scalp with a cooling oil like coconut oil mixed with a few drops of Brahmi oil. This not only nourishes the scalp but also calms excess Pitta, promoting healthier hair growth. Apply it at night and rinse in the morning. Use a natural, gentle shampoo without harsh chemicals.
For your broader health context, adopt a holistic routine that includes calming practices, like practicing yoga or pranayama exercises for at least 15 minutes a day. This aids in stress reduction, balancing doshas, and overall well-being. Prioritize a regular sleep schedule as insufficient sleep can affect both the Pitta balance and stress levels, contributing to hair problems.
Given your recent health history, continue to follow medical advice and consult your healthcare provider before making major changes to your diet or lifestyle, especially with your ongoing treatments. Balancing a tight schedule is challenging, so integrate these practices in small, manageable steps.
