🩺 About Narasimha Rasayanam - It is a classical Ayurvedic rasayana formulation, mainly used for strength, stamina, hair health, and rejuvenation. - It contains ghee, sugar, herbs like Amalaki, Bhringaraj, and others. - It is generally nourishing and supportive for Vata-related weakness.

⚠️ Why You May Be Getting Frequent Colds - Narasimha Rasayanam is heavy, sweet, and cooling in nature. - If your digestion (Agni) is weak, it may produce Kapha aggravation → leading to frequent colds, congestion, or phlegm. - Since you already have a tendency to catch colds often, this rasayana may increase Kapha unless balanced properly.

🌿 How to Use Safely - Dosage: 1–2 teaspoons once daily. - Anupana (vehicle): Warm milk or warm water — this helps balance the cooling effect. - Timing: Best taken in the morning or at bedtime, but always after food (never on empty stomach). - Avoid: Taking it with cold water, curd, or heavy Kapha foods (fried, dairy at night, ice creams).

✅ Supportive Ayurvedic Tips - Add Trikatu churna (pippali, black pepper, ginger) — ½ g with honey once daily — to balance Kapha and improve digestion. - Drink warm water throughout the day. - Include Tulsi tea or ginger tea to reduce cold tendency. - Practice light exercise or yoga daily to improve circulation and immunity.

Narasimha Rasayanam is generally used to improve strength and immunity. If you get colds frequently, it may still be okay, but it should be taken with caution. In some people, especially those prone to cold, cough, or mucus, it can increase cold symptoms if the dose or timing is not right. Guidance: Take it only after food, not on an empty stomach Use a small dose . Avoid cold foods, curd at night, refrigerated items Prefer warm, light, easily digestible food If cold symptoms increase, stop and consult.

HELLO,

You mentioned that you catch colds frequently, but there are no other accompanying symptoms, In Ayuveda -Frequent colds often indicate a weakened immune system -It can also be related to kapha imbalance, which shows as congestion, heaviness, and susceptibility to infections -Sometimes , agni(digestive fire) is low, making the body less efficient at converting food into energy and immuity

Since you are taking Narasimha Rasayana for strength, this is appropriate but it’s important to support your immuity and balance kapha to prevent colds

TREATMENT GOALS -boost immunity and overal strength -reduce susceptibility to frequent colds -improve respiratory and digestive health -enhance energy ,stamina, and mental clarity

INTERNAL MEDICATIONS

A) NARASIMHA RASAYANA= 1 tsp twice daily taken with warm milk or water for 3-6 months = nourishes muscles, strengthens immune system, and enhances vitality

B) SUPPORTING MEDICATIONS

1) CYAWANPRASHA = 1 tsp in morning daily supports immunity and vitality

2) TRIKATU= 1/4 tsp with warm water before meals supports respiratory health and clears mucus

3) ASHWAGANDHA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm milk at bedtime for long term stamina and stress reduction

C) IMMUNITY BOOSTER (if prone to colds)

4) GUDUCHI GHAN VATI= 2 tabs in morning enhances immunity and reduces recurrent infections

-Honey + ginger juice= for mild respiratory congestion

EXTERNAL THERAPIES

1) OIL MASSAGE= daily warm sesame oil massage enhances circulation and immunity

2) STEAM INHALATION= with tulsi or ginger for nasal congestion

3) NASAL DROPS= 2 drops of anu taila In each nostril daily morning , supports respiratory tract and prevents recurrent cold

LIFESTYLE RECOMMENDATIONS

SLEEP= 7-8 hours of proper sleep to allow immune recovery

EXERCISE= gentle yoga, walking, or light cardio to improve circulation and stamina

STRESS MANAGEMENT= meditation or breathing exercises, as stress lowers immunity

YOGA= focus on poses that improve lung capacity and overall strength -Tadasana -bhujangasana -setu bad hasana -ardha matsyendrasana= strengthen body and improve circulation -Shavasana= relaxes body and mind, enhances recovery

PRANAYAM= boosts respiratory health and immunity -Anulom vilom= balances prana and kapha -Bhramari= clears nasal passages and calms the mind -Kapalbhati= stimulates metabolism and strengthen agni, if not prone to severe pitta imbalance

DIET -Prefer light, warm, easily digestible foods -use digestive spices= black pepper, cumin, ginger, turmeric -avoid cold, oily, heavy foods or excessive sweets -include seasonal fruits and vegetables -drink warm water or herbal teas throughout the day

Warm rice porridge, dal soups, steamed vegetables, herbal teas (ginger , tulsi)

HOME REMEDIES -warm turmeric milk before bed -steam inhalation with Tusi or ginger during early signs of cold -honey + ginger juice for mild cough or throat irritation -Gargling with warm salt water to prevent throat infections

Narasimha rasaana is suitable for building strength and immunity, but it must be supported by kapha balancing measures (diet, medicines, lifestyle)

Ayurveda emphasizes management- combining medicines, diet, lifestyle, yoga and mind body care

Consistency is key- immunity and strength improve gradually over 3-6 months

Avoid excessive cold exposure, irregular sleep, and heavy kapha promoting foods

DO FOLLOW

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

THANK YOU

DR. MAITRI ACHARYA

Hello I get why you’re concerned. If you’re trying to get stronger but keep catching colds, it usually means your body’s immunity (Ojas) is down, and maybe Kapha and Agni are out of whack.

YOUR UNDERSTANDING

Frequent colds, without a ton of other stuff going on, points to: * Low Ojas (immunity) * Slightly too much Kapha * Maybe weak digestion (Mandagni)

So, the goal is to get stronger without making Kapha or mucus worse.

About Narasimha Rasayanam

Narasimha Rasayanam is usually pretty good for: * Getting stronger * Low energy * Sexual weakness * Feeling generally run-down

It mostly nourishes * Mamsa Dhatu (muscles) * Shukra Dhatu (vitality)

Is it okay if I’m always catching a cold? 👉 Yes, but be careful.

Since it’s: * Heavy * Sweet * Can increase Kapha

It might: * Make more mucus * Make colds worse if you have weak digestion

How to Take Narasimha Rasayanam Safely

Dose: 1/2 teaspoon (3–5 grams) Just once a day

Best time: Morning, after you’ve eaten

Anupana (super important for you): Take it with: Warm milk + a tiny bit of dry ginger (saunth) OR Warm water + a tiny bit of black pepper

This helps stop Kapha from building up.

What else can I do to Avoid Colds?

To balance Kapha and boost immunity:

Simple stuff you can do every day: –Drink a cup of warm water with ginger –Steam your face 2–3 times a week –Avoid cold water, yogurt at night, and ice cream

When NOT to Take Narasimha Rasayanam

Stop taking it if you get: * A constantly stuffy nose * A heavy chest * Gross, thick white phlegm * Loss of appetite

That means Kapha is going up.

A Good Plan for You

For strength + immunity:

Morning: Narasimha Rasayanam (small dose) Evening: Guduchi or Tulsi tea

That way, you can get stronger without getting sick all the time.

You can keep taking Narasimha Rasayanam, but: Take a small amount, with warming herbs, and watch your digestion. Otherwise, it might make you more likely to catch a cold.

One big rule: Rasayana only works if your digestion (Agni) is good. If not, it turns into Kapha.

Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate
