Hello, From an Ayurvedic perspective, this condition is viewed as Vata Vyadhi, specifically involving Abhigata (trauma) to the Majjavaha Srotas (nervous system). When the flow of Prana is interrupted at the D9 level, it leads to Apana Vata Dusti, which directly governs the bladder and bowel functions. Since the structural compression has been relieved and physical therapy is ongoing, the focus shifts to Rasayana (rejuvenation) and Vata-Shamana (calming the nervous system) to repair the myelin sheath and restore signal conduction. The nerves are considered part of Majja Dhatu. The stiffness and tingling indicate a combination of Avarana (blockage) and Kshaya (depletion). While external treatments like massage help, the primary recovery must now come from deep internal nourishment of the spinal cord tissues. Ayurveda Medicines & Dosage 1. Mahamasha Thailam : This is the gold standard for muscle wasting and neurological weakness below the waist. Dose: 1 capsule or 10ml with warm water twice daily before food. 2. Sahacharadi Kwath: Specifically targeted for ailments affecting the lower limbs and pelvic organs. It helps in restoring the “Gati” (movement) of Apana Vata for bladder control. Dose: 15ml diluted with 45ml lukewarm water twice daily on an empty stomach. 3. Balarishta: A powerful restorative tonic that strengthens the nerves and reduces the stiffness (Stambha) associated with spinal injuries. Dose: 20ml with an equal amount of water after meals twice daily. 4. Kshirabala 101 (Continued): You are already taking this; it is excellent for nerve conduction. Ensure it is taken with warm milk to enhance its Snehana (oleation) effect. Dose: Continue 600mg twice daily. 5. Saraswatarishtam: Often added to neurological protocols to improve the coordination between the brain and the peripheral nerves. Dose: 15ml with water after dinner.

Dose: 500 mg twice daily or 3 g powder with milk. Trayodashang Guggulu Used in sciatica, neuropathy, paralysis. Action: improves nerve conduction, reduces weakness and pain. Dose: 1–2 tablets twice daily. Yograj Guggulu For Vata disorders with stiffness. Action: reduces stiffness, muscle tightness, body pain. Dose: 1–2 tablets twice daily. Ekangveer Ras Used in paralysis and nerve weakness. Action: helps improve motor control and limb power. Dose: 125–250 mg twice daily. Chandraprabha Vati For urinary system and bladder control. Action: supports neurogenic bladder symptoms. Dose: 1–2 tablets twice daily. Triphala For bowel regulation. Action: relieves constipation and improves motion control. Dose: 1 tsp at bedtime. External treatment Ksheerbala Taila massage Improves circulation and reduces numbness. Mahanarayana Taila massage Reduces stiffness and spasticity. Matra Basti Oil enema therapy is often most effective for Apana Vata issues such as bladder and bowel dysfunction. Swedana Mild steam after massage reduces stiffness. Important Ayurvedic medicines can support healing, but physiotherapy remains the most important treatment for regaining walking and balance. Bladder and bowel control recover more slowly than walking.

Hello, This condition reflects vata aggravation (especially apana and vyana vata) with Majja dhatu (nerve tissue) depletion Goal is -nourish nerves -improve nerve conduction ad strength -support bladder bowel control -reduce stiffness and neuropathy Internal medications 1) Ksheerbala 101 capsule= 1 cap twice daily after meals =best for nerve regeneration, vata balance 2) Dhanwantaram gulika= 1 tab twice daily after meals =improves neuromuscular coordination and mobility 3) Ashwagandhadhi lehyam= 1 tsp with warm milk at bedtime =strength, nerve repair, reduces fatigue 4) Dashmoolarishtam= 15ml + equal water twice daily after meals =vata pacification + anti inflammatory 5) Gandharvahastadi kashaya if constipation= 15ml twice daily before meals with warm water =regulates bowel + apana vata External therapies -Ksheerbala taila= daily gentle massage below waist 20 min =improves nerve signaling and sitffness -Dhanwantaram taila= use for deeper massage 3-4 times/week =strengthen muscles and joints After oil muscles= mild fomentation Panchakarma advised -Basti= most effective specifically for bladder control + nerve repair -Shirodhara/shirovasti= helps central nervous system recovery Diet vata pacifying + nerve nourishment -warm, soft, oily foods -cow ghee 2 tsp daily -milk with turmeric -moong dal, rice, cooked vegetables -almonds soaked Avoid -dry, cold, raw foods -excess tea, coffee -processed and gas forming foods Lifestyle and rehab -continue physiotheray very important -gentle yoga= vajrasana, pawanmuktasana -pranayam= anulom vilom, bhramari -avoid= prolonged sitting, cold exposure For bladder and bowel control -timed voiding practice -warm water intake Expected -gradual improvement over 3-6 months -better nerve response, reduced stiffness -partial improvement in bladder/ bowel control (depends on nerve damage extent) Your current approach is correct, but only oral medicines are not enough-basti + external therapies are key in such neurrological vata disorders Do follow Hope this might be helpful Thank you

Your condition is a post-surgical neurological deficit after spinal dural AV fistula embolization, where nerve supply below D9 is affected. In Ayurveda, this is mainly understood as a severe Vata Vyadhi (disorder of Vata dosha), specifically involving Majja Dhatu (nervous tissue) and Apana Vata (bladder & bowel control). You are already on the right path with Kshirbala, but in such deep nerve damage cases, a more structured, multi-layer Ayurvedic approach is needed. Rx 1. Internal Medicines (Nerve Regeneration & Vata Balance) These help in nerve repair, conduction, and strength: Brihat Vata Chintamani Ras – supports nerve regeneration and improves coordination 1. Ashwagandha Churna / Capsule – strengthens nerves, reduces stiffness & fatigue 2. Yograj Guggulu – reduces inflammation, stiffness, improves mobility 3.Dashmool Kwath – pacifies deep-seated Vata and supports lower body function 4. Kshirbala 101 cap For bladder control: Chandraprabha Vati – improves urinary control & bladder tone Gokshuradi Guggulu – supports urinary system and pelvic nerves 2. Diet & Lifestyle (Very Important) Follow a strict Vata-pacifying routine: Warm, soft, easily digestible food Include: ghee, milk, almonds, black gram (urad dal), soups Avoid: dry, cold, processed, excessive spicy food For constipation (important for nerve recovery): Take Triphala at night or mild castor oil with milk (if suitable)

Hello, It is quite positive to hear that the patient is able to walk. The neuropathy symptoms and the loss of bowel and bladder control denotes a severe case of vata vitiation in ayurvedic terms. So the treatment plan should best suited Apana vata vaigunya along with resensitizing the nerve connection as well as improvement of the bladder and bowel muscle function. It must be difficult but I believe vasti karma is the way to go. You should research about rajayapana vasti. As for internal medicines ksheerabala 101 is a good choice. May be advise the ksheerabala 101 as nasya karma and start nimbamrutheranda capsules as internal medicine, along with a balamoola ksheerpaka, A matra vasti with balaswagandhadi taila can also be tried. Hope you tried kegals excercise, may be incorporate setubandhasana

indicates a severe Vata-Vyadhi (neurological disorder) with localized Dhatu Kshaya (tissue depletion). I have prescribed medications take them consistently and you will se results. **Matra Basti (The Gold Standard for vata) Since external massage had limited effectiveness, the medicine must reach the pelvic plexus directly. Action: 30–50 ml of Mahamasha Thailam administered rectally after lunch. •Why: This is the most direct way to pacify Apana Vata, which controls the bladder, bowel, and lower limb motor functions ✅ The “Dos” • Consume warm, unctuous (slightly oily) foods. Include ghee, sesame seeds, and ASH Gourd (Kushmanda), which is excellent for nerve cooling. • Establish a strict schedule for voiding (every 2 hours) to retrain the reflex arc, even if the urge is not felt. •Gentle Anulom Vilom (Pranayama) and seated pelvic floor contractions (if possible) to improve Prana flow to the lower body. ❌ The “Don’ts” • Avoid Sitting for Long Periods: As noted in your triggers, this compresses the already damaged D9–D12 nerve roots. Use a pressure-relieving cushion. •Avoid sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, and cold salads. These increase dryness in the nerves, worsening tingling and stiffness. • Avoid Over-Exertion: While walking is great, “aggressive” therapy can sometimes flare up neuropathy. Focus on “slow and steady” neuro-rehabilitation.

The reason external Panchakarma (like standard massage and sweating) has shown limited effectiveness is because your nerve damage is central (ischemic injury to the spinal cord at D9), not peripheral. External oils cannot easily cross the barrier to heal deep spinal tissue. Before the embolization, the AV fistula caused severe venous congestion, starving your spinal cord of oxygen. In Ayurveda, this is a profound case of Majja Dhatu Kshaya (depletion of the nervous system tissue) combined with a severe blockage of Apana Vata (the downward energy that strictly governs the bladder, bowel, and lower limbs). Taking Ksheerabala 101 is an excellent start, but a single herbal oil is not potent enough to reverse central neuro-deficits and autonomic dysfunction on its own. ✓Targeted Ayurvedic Prescription 1. Brihat Vata Chintamani Ras Dosage: 1 tablet twice daily. Time: To be taken 30 minutes after meals. Vehicle: Mixed with a small amount of warm Cow’s Ghee or honey. 2. Chandraprabha Vati Dosage: 2 tablets twice daily. Time: 30 minutes before meals. Vehicle: Warm water. 3. Gandharvahastadi Kashayam Dosage: 15 ml mixed with 15 ml of warm water. Time: Twice daily, on an empty stomach. ✓Therapy Modification Switch to Basti (Therapeutic Enema): You must stop relying on external massages and transition to Matra Basti (daily micro-enemas with medicated oils like Mahamasha Taila) or Mustadi Yapana Basti. The colon is the primary seat of Vata. Administering neuro-regenerative oils via the rectum is the only Ayurvedic method that directly bypasses the digestive destruction and delivers fat-soluble medicine straight to the central nervous system to heal the spinal cord. Regards Dr Gursimran Jeet Singh MD Panchakarma

This is a post–spinal cord nerve injury (below D9) after AV fistula embolization. I’ll be very clear: complete reversal is difficult, but functional improvement (better control, strength, sensation) is definitely possible with consistent therapy. Right now your condition is mainly Vata vyadhi (nerve damage + degeneration). Treatment approach (important): You need 3 things together: Internal medicines (nerve nourishment) External therapies (stimulation + circulation) Physiotherapy (MOST important for recovery) Ayurvedic internal medicines: Ksheerabala 101 – continue (good choice) Ashwagandha churna – ½ tsp twice daily with milk Balarishta – 15 ml + equal water, twice daily after food Yograj guggulu – 1 tablet twice daily after food 👉 These help in nerve regeneration support + Vata balance For bladder & bowel control: Chandraprabha vati – 1 tablet twice daily Gokshuradi guggulu – 1 tablet twice daily (Helps improve urinary function gradually) External therapies (continue but modify): Instead of general Panchakarma, focus on: Matrabasti (oil enema) – very effective for Vata + nerve issues Abhyanga (oil massage) + mild steam Local Kati basti (lower spine region) 👉 These should be done under supervision Physiotherapy (critical): Do NOT stop or reduce Focus on: Muscle strengthening Balance training Bladder training exercises Lifestyle: Avoid long sitting Keep bowels clear (constipation worsens nerve symptoms) Warm diet + good hydration Realistic expectation: ✔ Gradual improvement over 3–6 months+ ✔ Better control and strength possible ❌ Instant or full recovery is unlikely Important: If bladder control is significantly affected, continue follow-up with neurologist/urologist also Ayurveda works best as supportive + rehabilitative care here Consistency is the key in nerve recovery cases. Take care and feel free to contact me anytime for any of your health needs.

1.Chandraprabha vati 2 tab twice daily with water after meals 2.Brihat vata chintamani ras 1 tab twice daily with water after meals 3.Sahacharadi kwath 20 ml with 20 ml water twice daily after meals 4.Ashwagandha capsules 1 cap twice daily with warm milk after meals 5.Mahamasha taila- massage with warm oil Lifestyle tips: -Bladder Training: Implement “timed voiding” every 2 hours to retrain the reflex arc, even if you do not feel the urge. -Dietary Adjustments: To manage the bloating and constipation affecting your Vata, prioritize warm, unctuous (oily) foods with Ghee. Avoid “gas-forming” foods like cabbage, sprouts, and cold salads, as these increase “dryness” in the nerves. -Physical Activity: Continue physiotherapy, but avoid “aggressive” movements that may flare up neuropathy. Focus on slow, steady neuro-rehabilitation and pelvic floor exercises (Kegels).
