In Ayurveda, high cholesterol, elevated triglycerides, and fatty liver are often linked to imbalances in Kapha dosha and poor digestion (Agni). When Agni is low, Ama (toxins) can accumulate in the body, affecting liver function and lipid metabolism. To support liver health and balance cholesterol levels, consider incorporating lifestyle and dietary adjustments along with herbal remedies. A Kapha-pacifying diet is essential. Avoid heavy, fried, or oily foods, as well as refined sugars and processed foods, which can contribute to Ama buildup. Opt instead for warm, easily digestible meals that include spices like turmeric, cumin, coriander, and black pepper, which improve digestion and help cleanse the liver. Adding more fiber-rich vegetables and fruits to your diet can aid in flushing out toxins and reducing cholesterol levels naturally. Herbs like Triphala and Guggulu are particularly beneficial. Triphala, a combination of three fruits, supports digestion, aids in detoxification, and helps clear fatty deposits in the liver. Guggulu is known for its ability to balance cholesterol levels and reduce triglycerides, promoting overall heart health. You may consider taking Punarnava as well, as it rejuvenates liver cells and supports bile production, aiding fat metabolism. Ayurvedic formulations like Arjuna and Kutki are also beneficial for liver function and cardiovascular health. In addition to diet and herbal support, regular exercise is important to stimulate Agni, reduce excess Kapha, and improve blood circulation. Daily brisk walking or light cardio exercises can be helpful. Practicing yoga poses like Bhujangasana (Cobra pose) and Dhanurasana (Bow pose) can help stimulate the liver.

High cholesterol, triglycerides, and fatty liver can be pritty concerning, but the good news is Ayurveda does have some natural ways that might help manage these issues. Since you're opting out of allopathic meds, make sure to consult regularly with your doc about this approach, so you don't skip something crucial. Let's start with diet. Aghni (digestive fire) plays a big role here. You’ll want to favor foods that kindle a strong digestive fire and avoid those that dampen it. Opt for lighter meals, avoid oily and fried stuff like the plague, and cut back on sugar too—it's a sneaky source of high triglycerides. Focus on fresh vegetables, green leafy ones, and whole grains. Oats, barley, and even whole rice are really good. Include spices like turmeric, fenugreek, ginger, and garlic... not too much, just enough. Lifestyle tweaks can also help. Regular exercise — it's key. Even just a brisk walk for 30 minutes daily can be quite beneficial. Mediation and yoga, especially postures like Ardha Matsyendrasana and Kapalbhati (for those who can do it comfortably), contribute to balancing your doshas and improving metabolism. For herbal remedies, consider Triphala at night, about a teaspoon with warm water, it helps with cleansing the system. Arjuna is another herb that supports heart health and can be taken, usually in powder or capsule form, but do check its interaction if you already have other health conditions. Since this is kind of chronic condition, consistent effort over time is necessary. Keep in mind immediate or drastic changes aren't typical. Balance your efforts gradually, listen to your body, and definitely loop in your healthcare provider to monitor how these changes are working out for you. Small tweaks, big impacts, give it some time!
