I am really confused about taking shilajit in summer. I started using it a couple of months ago because my energy levels were pretty low, and my Ayurvedic doctor recommended it. I've noticed some improvement in my stamina, but now that summer is hitting hard, I'm wondering if it’s still safe? Like, I sweat a lot already and I feel like if I take it in the heat, it might just make me feel more overheated or something. Plus, I've read some mixed views online saying that shilajit might not be great for hot weather. Last week, I tried taking it before a workout and was super drained after, which worries me, like am I doing it wrong? Should I be mixing it with something different? Or is there a right dosage during these hotter months? I just don’t want to feel sluggish and overheated, you know? Can we take shilajit in summer, and if so, how should I be using it? Really hope to get some insights before summer gets way too intense!

First, it’s important to note that shilajit is generally considered a Rasayana (rejuvenator), known for enhancing vitality and stamina. However, because summer tends to aggravate Pitta dosha — which heat and intensity — it’s logical to consider how shilajit might impact that. If taken incorrectly, it might indeed cause an imbalance.

For individuals with predominant Pitta dosha or those who sweat excessively, shilajit can be slightly warming. The tricky part is finding a balance where its benefits are retained without exacerbating heat in the body. To manage that, try taking shilajit with cool, refreshing mediums. Mix it with a cup of coconut water or diluted aloe vera juice, something cooling, that can counterbalance heat.

As for dosage, a smaller, more conservative amount might be preferable during summer. Instead of a full dose, try starting with half; observe how you feel. If you enjoy morning exercises, consider taking it later in the day when the body could benefit more from its rejuvenative properties without overdoing it.

Ensure you’re well-hydrated throughout the day, which is crucial in preventing the feeling of being drained. Staying cool depends a lot on your overall fluid intake.

Remember, everyone’s body responds differently, so if you continue feeling overheated or sluggish even with adjustments, it might be time to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner to reevaluate your regimen. It’s crucial to observe and listen to your body’s signals during such seasonal changes.
