Pain on the left side of chest can sometimes signify serious medical conditions like heart-related issues. Given that your pain is consistent and rated high, it’s important to get your heart and lungs checked by a medical professional immediately, just to rule out any critical concerns before diving into Ayurvedic options.

Once you’ve confirmed it’s safe to proceed, you can harness Ayurveda’s wisdom focusing on balancing your doshas and strengthening your heart and respiratory system. According to Ayurvedic principles, such pain may be related to a Vata imbalance, which can cause discomfort and unease in the chest area.

Arjuna is often recommended for cardiac health in Ayurveda. Arjuna tree bark has cardio-protective properties. You can try it in powder form, about 1 teaspoon mixed with warm milk or water, taken daily. It’s traditionally used to improve heart function and may help alleviate discomfort in the chest area.

Brahmi, known for its calming properties, may also assist soothing nerves. Sipping Brahmi tea a couple of times a day can help stabilize Vata imbalance contributing to pain.

Observe your diet, incorporating warm, easy-to-digest foods to support digestion and pacify Vata. Favor cooked veggies, whole grains, and soups. Consider adding spices like ginger and turmeric to your meals, as they are known for anti-inflammatory and digestive benefits.

Incorporate practices like Pranayama (breath control) and light Yoga postures aimed at reducing stress and improving circulation. While these are supportive measures, they should be tailored based on your constitution. Aim to keep a regular routine, maintaining a healthy balance of rest and physical activity.

Please don’t delay visiting your healthcare provider. It’s vital to address any immediate concerns and ensure your ongoing safety while complementing with Ayurveda.

HELLO CHIMSON,

In Ayurveda chest pain is termed URAH SHOOLA and may result from an imbalance in Vata dosha, possibly combined with pitta(if there’s burning or inflammation) or kapha(if heaviness or congestion is present)

VATA= sharp, stabbing, shifting pain, dryness, worse at night or with fasting= it fits your description most closely

PITTA= burning inflammation, hot sensation= if you feel burning or acidity with Pain

KAPHA= dull, heavy pain, congestion, mucus= if you have heaviness or phlegm

1) DASHMOOLARISHTA= 20 ml twice daily before food with warm water =musculoskeletal or nerve related pain

2) YOGARAJ GUGGULU= 2 tabs twice daily after meals with warm water = chronic pain, joint, nerve and muscle discomfort

3) HINGWASTAKA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm water before meals = relieves gas pressure that may radiate as chest pain

4) ARJUNA CAPSULE= 1 cap twice daily with warm water = palpitations, emotional stress, or cardiac weakness suspected

5) ASHWAGANDHA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm milk at bedtime = nervine tonic

YOGA AND PRANAYAM if pain is not cardiac in origin -bhujangasana -matsyasana -setu bandhasana -shavasana

PRANAYAM -Anulom Vilom -bhramari -ujjayi

LIFESTYLE AND DIET -use warm sesame oil for daily chest/back massage -take warm water throughout the day -favour easily digestible , warm, cooked foods - use spices like ginger, cumin, ajwain to regulate vata -practice early sleeping, regular meal times and avoid overexertion

DON’TS -avoid cold drinks, uncooked food, fried/heavy meals -avoid suppresion of natural urges=gas, hunger, emotion - avoid exposure to cold or dry winds -limit screen time or awkward posture that staring the chest

WARNING SIGNS -pain worsens with exertion or radiates to left arm, neck ,jaw -accompanied by shortness of breath, dizziness, palpitations -sudden onset pain or increased intensity - pain with fever, cough or trauma

Hello Chisom , Thank you for reaching out. I’m truly sorry to hear you’re experiencing persistent pain on the left side of your chest, especially with a pain level of 7/10. Since this pain has been there since childhood but has recently become more consistent, it’s important to approach this with both urgency and caution.

⚠️ Most Important:

Chest pain — especially on the left side — could involve the heart, lungs, nerves, or muscles. Even if it has been present since childhood, a new increase in intensity or frequency needs to be properly evaluated.

✅ Recommended Immediate Steps:

1 Get an ECG and a heart checkup (especially to rule out cardiac causes) 2 Check for gastritis-related pain, inflammation of chest cartilage, or lung causes

3. Rule out any nerve-related pain (intercostal neuralgia)

Mean while you can take following medication 1 Mahadhanwanthram gullika 2-2-2 (keep in the mouth this will reduce cardiac pain temporarily till proper diagnosis is made)

🔴 Do this first before starting any Ayurvedic treatment.

Ayurvedic Herbs (Start only if you know the cause ):

✅ For Muscular/Nerve-Related Chest Pain:

1 Balaristham 30ml-0-30ml after food 2 Ashwagandharistham 30ml-0-30ml after food 3 CArdorium pluis 10ml-0-10ml twice daily

✅ For Gas/Indigestion-Related Chest Pain:

1 Acineutra syrup 10ml-0-10ml after food 2 dadimasthak choorna – 1 tsp with warm water just before lunch

Home Remedies (only if not heart-related):

• Warm turmeric milk with pinch of dry ginger at night • Apply warm castor oil or Mahanarayan oil to the chest • Avoid very cold food or drinks • Gentle breathing techniques – Anulom Vilom, Sheetali

Please Remember:

Since you’re having 7/10 intensity pain, and it’s on the left side, the priority is ruling out heart-related or serious lung issues. Ayurveda works wonderfully as a supportive system, but never ignore warning signs.

Wishing you relief and clarity soon Please get checked and then come back for a safe, effective Ayurvedic plan we will be happy to help.

Warm regards, Dr. Snehal Vidhate
