Understanding Linganasha and Its Causes - #51359

In Ayurveda, Linganasha is described as the stage where the Drishti (vision) becomes completely lost or non-perceptible due to severe vitiation of doshas affecting the visual apparatus. Acharya Sushruta describes Linganasha as the advanced stage of eye diseases such as Timira and Kacha. Reference – Sushruta Samhita, Uttara Tantra (Drishtigata Roga Adhyaya): लिङ्गनाशस्तु विज्ञेयः सर्वदोषप्रकोपजः । दृष्टेर्नाशो भवेत् तत्र न पश्यति यथा पुरा ॥ Linganasha occurs due to the aggravated Tridosha, leading to destruction of vision where the person is unable to see objects as before. Timira, Kacha, and other chronic Drishtigata Roga can gradually progress to Linganasha if not treated in earlier stages.
