From an Ayurvedic perspective, these patches (Xanthelasma) are viewed as Medo-dushti (improper fat metabolism) and Kaphaja Granthi (small glandular growths caused by vitiated Kapha). They indicate an accumulation of “Ama” (toxins) and excess lipids in the subcutaneous tissues. The focus is on clearing the channels (Srotoshodhana) and improving liver function to balance fat metabolism. Internal Medications : Liposem Tablet: Take 2 tablets twice daily after food. This is a proprietary formulation specifically designed to manage hyperlipidemia and fat metabolism. Varanadi Kashayam: Take 15 ml diluted with 45 ml of lukewarm water, twice daily on an empty stomach (30 minutes before food). This helps in “Scraping” (Lekhana) of excess adipose tissue. Kanchanara Guggulu: Take 2 tablets twice daily with lukewarm water after food. It is highly effective in treating glandular swellings and growths. Recommended Tests Since Xanthelasma is frequently a skin manifestation of internal issues, it is essential to get a Lipid Profile test. This will check your: Total Cholesterol LDL (Bad cholesterol) HDL (Good cholesterol) Triglycerides Modern Treatment Options If the patches are cosmetically bothersome, they usually do not disappear with medicine alone and may require: TCA Chemical Peels Laser Therapy (CO2 or Erbium) Surgical Excision or Cryotherapy
