Doctors' responses

Hi! I’m an assistant to the Ask Ayurveda doctors. I’ve carefully reviewed your question.

I will explain your symptoms through the Ayurvedic perspective so you understand what is happening in your body as a whole.

In Ayurveda, hypertension is often related to an imbalance in the doshas, particularly Pitta and Vata. Arjuna is known for its ability to support heart health and balance Pitta due to its cooling properties, while Mukta Vati can help calm the mind and reduce Vata-induced stress and anxiety, which are common contributors to hypertension.

These symptoms suggest a systemic imbalance involving excess heat (Pitta) and irregularity or dryness (Vata), leading to increased pressure within the circulatory system. This is not just a cardiovascular issue but a reflection of overall imbalance, including diet, stress, and lifestyle factors.

To give doctors a precise and effective treatment plan, your answers to the questions below are essential. Without this information, the recommendations will be more general and less accurate.

Please answer each question as clearly as possible:

1. How long have you been experiencing high blood pressure? Please specify if it is less than 1 month, 1-6 months, 6 months to 1 year, or more than 1 year. 2. What is your current blood pressure reading? Options include below 120/80 mmHg, 120-129/80-84 mmHg, 130-139/85-89 mmHg, or 140/90 mmHg or higher. 3. Are you currently taking any medications for hypertension? Indicate if you are not taking any, using over-the-counter, prescribed medications, or have stopped taking them. 4. How would you describe your overall diet? Is it balanced and healthy, high in salt and processed foods, vegetarian or plant-based, or mixed but not very healthy? 5. Do you experience any symptoms related to hypertension, such as occasional headaches, dizziness, fatigue, or shortness of breath? 6. How often do you exercise? Is it regularly (most days), occasionally (1-2 times a week), rarely (once a month), or not at all? 7. Have you made any lifestyle changes recently? Specify if there have been significant changes, some changes, no changes, or if you’re not sure.

Your detailed responses will help in tailoring a more specific Ayurvedic recommendation for managing your hypertension effectively.

I’m really glad you’re taking steps to manage this early—BP around 140/90 is reversible in many cases with the right approach. But I need to be very clear on one thing first: Stopping prescribed BP medicines on your own can be risky, even if you feel fine (hypertension is often silent). Ayurveda can support beautifully, but it should be integrated carefully, not abruptly replacing treatment. Combining both medicine is possible, BUT: ❗ mukta vati can reduce BP significantly ❗ If taken incorrectly → dizziness, low BP, weakness So don’t start high doses together. Safe way to combine - Morning Empty stomach: mukta vati – 1 tablet After Breakfast arjuna (powder 3–5 gm with warm water or milk) OR arjuna tablet form Evening Before dinner: mukta vati – 1 tablet (if BP still high) 📊 Monitoring is MUST Check BP every 3–4 days If BP comes below 120/80, reduce mukta vati Your case is still moderate and manageable, which is a very good stage. But since: you already stopped medication and planning combination therapy this needs proper dose titration based on your BP trend and body type Just tell me: Your age + weight + any stress/anxiety issues + current BP readings (last 3 values) I’ll guide you more precisely so you can normalize BP safely without complications.

Thank you for your positive feedback. I have taken conventional medication for just 3 months. I am 44years old and my pressure started raising after my contract was terminated while i was having expectant spouse. I weigh 67kgs and am 168cm of height.

Aapne jo pehle guidance diya tha, wo safe aur clinically sensible direction mein hai ab unki jo details aayi hain, usse case thoda aur clear ho gaya hai: Age: 44 Trigger: Emotional stress BP history: Recent onset Body type: BMI normal range ke aas-paas Iska matlab — ye “stress-induced hypertension” hai aur good news ye hai ki ye reversible category mein aata hai agar sahi manage kiya jaye Aapka base plan sahi hai, bas thoda personalize kar dete hain: Morning (empty stomach) mukta vati – 1 tablet only After breakfast arjuna powder 3 gm with warm milk/water Evening mukta vati – sirf tab add karein agar BP >135/85 ho consistently Daily 2 tablet se start karna zaroori nahi hai Add: brahmi vati (1 tab night) Har 3–4 din BP check karte rahein. Kyuki aapne allopathic medicine already stop ki hai, next 2–3 weeks monitoring bahut important hai. Agar BP 150+ jaye ya headache/dizziness ho toh ignore na karein.

Kindly convert to English so that i can understand the content. Thank you

The guidance you gave earlier was safe and clinically sensible. Now, with these additional details, the case has become clearer: Age: 44 Trigger: Emotional stress BP history: Recent onset Body type: Around normal BMI This suggests that it is stress-induced hypertension. The good news is that this type is often reversible if managed properly. Your base plan is correct; we just need to personalize it slightly: Treatment Plan Morning (empty stomach) mukta vati – 1 tablet only After breakfast arjuna powder – 3 gm with warm milk or water Evening Add mukta vati only if BP remains consistently above 135/85 It is not necessary to start with 2 tablets daily Add-on brahmi vati – 1 tablet at night ⚠️ Monitoring Check BP every 3–4 days Since allopathic medicine has already been stopped, monitoring for the next 2–3 weeks is very important If BP goes above 150+ or if there are symptoms like headache or dizziness, do not ignore it.
