In Ayurveda, Ashoka (Saraca indica) is mainly used for uterine health and controlling excess bleeding. It has a kashaya (astringent) and cooling nature, which can reduce secretions. During breastfeeding: Not routinely recommended for daily use May reduce breast milk (Stanya) in some women Long-term or unnecessary use not advised during lactation Ayurvedic approach: During breastfeeding, focus on Stanya vardhak (milk-promoting) herbs like Shatavari, fennel, cumin Maintain good nutrition, hydration, and rest Avoid regular Ashoka powder while breastfeeding
Thank you. Does shatavari help with yeast infections?
No, Shatavari is not a proven treatment for yeast infections. A yeast infection (usually caused by Candida) happens due to fungal overgrowth. Shatavari is mainly used for hormonal balance, fertility, and breastfeeding support, not for infections.
Is there a herb or something similar to use for yeast infections since Ashoka isn’t recommended while breastfeeding? Thank you
Kindly avoid any other medications during breastfeeding
Ashoka powder (Ashok churna) is mainly used for heavy bleeding, irregular periods, and uterine disorders. During breastfeeding, it is not usually recommended unless clearly needed and prescribed, because it has uterine-stimulating and astringent properties and may reduce body fluids in some women. If you are breastfeeding and have no excessive bleeding problem, avoid taking it routinely. If needed for heavy periods after delivery: Dose: 1–2 grams once or twice daily after food with warm water or honey, only under doctor supervision. For general weakness during breastfeeding, safer Ayurvedic options are Shatavari churna 3–5 g with warm milk once/twice daily (supports milk production). Jeerakadyarishta 10–15 ml with equal water after food. So, simple answer: Avoid Ashoka powder while breastfeeding unless there is a specific gynecological reason and a doctor advises it.
