Long-standing constipation where even laxatives are not helping usually indicates weak bowel movement and dryness in the colon rather than only lack of fiber. Avoid depending too much on tea or repeated laxatives, as over time the bowel can become sluggish. Increase warm water intake and try to keep fixed meal and sleep timings. At night, take early light dinner and walk for 10–15 minutes after food. Avoid dry, packaged, and very refined foods. Morning: 1 glass warm water with 1 tsp ghee At home, soaked black raisins or soaked figs at bedtime can help soften stool naturally. Triphala tablet – 2 tablets at bedtime with warm water Gandharvahastadi castor oil – 1 teaspoon with warm milk at bedtime 2–3 times weekly Hingwashtak churna – ½ teaspoon with first bites of lunch and dinner This will help soften stools and improve natural bowel movement gradually. If constipation continues despite treatment, or if there is weight loss, bleeding, or very thin stools, further medical evaluation is important. Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)
