Feeling full with just small amounts of food and struggling to lose weight even without eating much can be frustrating, right? In Ayurveda, this might be related to an imbalance in your digestive fire, or “agni.” When agni is low, the body doesn’t digest well, leading to accumulation of Ama – that’s toxins – in the body, making you feel full even after little food and those extra kgs sticking around.
Let’s talk about some things that might help you. Start with sipping warm water throughout the day. This is something like being on your body’s team – it helps stimulate agni and flush out those pesky toxins. Just make sure it’s not hot as burning your mouth doesn’t help!
Consider starting your day with a glass of warm water with lemon and honey. It’s a gentle kickstart for your metabolism, and who doesn’t like a good morning pick-me-up? Try adding ginger tea as well; it can do wonders by boosting digestion and helping in weight regulation.
Make meals lighter in nature. Think about easy foods like moong dal or spinach soup which are nutritious but easy on the gut. Split your meals into smaller portions throughout the day instead of larger meals – your belly might thank you for that balance.
Exercise is your friend too, even light walks or gentle yoga can get things moving and grooving. Our ancient texts, the Charaka Samhita for example, sings praises of daily physical activity, tailored to one’s individual needs and strength.
Avoid cold foods and drinks, they can douse your digestive fire - keep that flame alive with favoring warm meals that are mildly spiced with things like cumin or fennel.
Detox isn’t just about what’s in the gut, it’s mental too. Stress can mess with your agni big time, so find time to chill, be it meditation or a good book.
If things don’t improve or if you feel uncomfortable, it’s always good to chat with a healthcare provider - sometimes coaches need coaches too. Personalized help could make all the difference in molding a plan just right for you.
