Hello Nana, It’s important to understand more about your child’s health. Has he had a recent check-up to check his growth and nutrition? Are his digestion and sleep patterns normal? Has he been getting any therapy for speech or behavior support?

For his growth and speech issues, you can try Bala Ashwagandhadi oil for gentle body massage daily. This may help in relaxing his muscles and improving blood flow. Amla or Triphala syrup in small doses can support digestion. Brahmi syrup is also good for brain development. Give him a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables, soaked nuts, and seeds. Moderate sunlight exposure will help maintain vitamin D levels. Play simple games with him, engage in water play, and try calming activities like music therapy.

It’s best to consult an Ayurvedic pediatrician, especially a developmental specialist, for personalized treatment. Regular monitoring and supportive therapies will help in his progress.

Hi Nana,

Can you tell me if your child experiences any digestive issues, such as constipation or diarrhea? Also, does he show any signs of sensitivity to certain sounds, textures, or environments? Lastly, how is his sleep pattern—does he sleep through the night or have trouble settling?

It sounds like you’re going through a challenging time, and I admire your commitment to finding ways to help your child. In Ayurveda, the balance of doshas—especially Vata—is crucial for speech and growth in children. Let’s look at some ways to support him holistically.

First off, that diet you’ve got him on is pretty strict. While it can be beneficial, it might be stripping him of essential nutrients. In Ayurveda, ensuring a kapha-balancing diet is important for growth and nourishment. Consider including more nourishing, easily digestible foods like moong dal khichadi, which is gentle on the stomach and packed with essential proteins. Adding ghee to his meals can help improve his appetite and helps digestion—it works wonders for Vata balancing.

Now, about the crying and shouting spells. They may be linked to heightened Vata activity, leading to restlessness or anxiety. A nightly oil massage using warm sesame oil can soothe his nervous system and create a comforting routine. Focus gently on his arms, legs, and back before bed—it’ll help him relax and possibly improve sleep.

Herbal supplementation could be beneficial too. Using Brahmi can be supportive for cognition and calming purposes, but it’s best to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner directly to tailor dosages specifically for your child.

Routine is key—children thrive with consistency. Try keep consistent times for meals, sleep, and play. Engage him in simple, repetitive activities like stacking blocks or water play, they help calming down the mind and encourages communication through actions.

Lastly, it’s important to work closely with healthcare professionals who specialize in autism, like speech therapists. Ayurveda can support but should complement, not replace, standard care. Seeking out multi-disciplinary support will provide a holistic approach in your child’s development. Keep going, you’re doing great!
