Chest pain can be concerning and while Ayurveda can offer some relief, we need to consider the possibility of more serious issues too. If your pain feels like pressure, radiates to your shoulders or arms, or is accompanied by vomiting, sweating, or breathlessness, please seek medical attention immediately—don’t wait it out as these symptoms could indicate a heart issue.

Now, from an Ayurvedic perspective, chest pain that improves throughout the day might relate to a Kapha imbalance, often manifesting as mucus or ama (toxins) build-up, or issues with digestion and excess acidity—hence the gastric connection.

Let’s talk about managing gastritis and acidity, which might be causing your discomfort. Often, poor agni (digestive fire) allows undigested food particles to accumulate, leading to such symptoms. To enhance your agni, consider the following:

1. Diet: Avoid spicy, oily, or fermented foods for now. Stick to warm, light meals—vegetables like bottle gourd and cooked apples can be soothing. Drink ginger tea made by boiling fresh ginger slices in water—sip this after meals to aid digestion.

2. Routine: Having meals at the same time every day can significantly support your digestive processes. Eating dinner at least three hours before bedtime helps too.

3. Herbs: You might find relief with Triphala taken at bedtime. Mix a teaspoon with warm water.

4. Lifestyle: Mindful eating is key. Sit down while eating and chew thoroughly. Avoid cold drinks, especially with meals. Morning walks—even around your room—can assist by keeping the digestive system active.

Pantoprazole and medications like Sucral can temporarily reduce acid but integrating these lifestyle shifts could give you long-term relief. Pay close attention to any changes or persistent issues, though, as you may still need ongoing medical care or diagnosis to rule out other conditions.
