Foot numbness, particularly with your history of diabetic neuropathy and other conditions, indicates that addressing circulation and nerve health is a priority. In Ayurveda, numbness can often be related to imbalances in the Vata dosha, which governs movement and nerve impulses. Here’s some guidance based on Ayurvedic principles:

Firstly, incorporating regular foot massages can help improve circulation and relieve numbness. Use warm sesame oil or mahanarayan oil. Gently massage your feet in circular motions and along the soles, spending about 10-15 minutes, twice daily if possible. The warmth and oiliness of sesame oil can help balance Vata energy and enhance blood flow.

Dietary adjustments can also play a critical role. Emphasize foods that are grounding and nourishing for Vata. Warm, cooked meals with healthy fats like ghee, ashwagandha, and turmeric might support nerve health. Avoid excessively cold, dry, or raw foods that could aggravate Vata’s cold and dry qualities. Also, stay away from caffeine and alcohol as they are aggravating to your condition.

Next, consider adding herbal support, such as Ashwagandha, in your daily routine. Ashwagandha is known for its adaptogenic and nervine properties, supporting overall nerve health. Typically, a dosage of 1 teaspoon of ashwagandha powder daily, taken with warm milk or water, can be beneficial. However, it’s crucial to consult your physician before starting any new herb, especially with your existing medication.

If you have sciatica, yoga stretches that focus on the lower back and hamstrings might provide relief. Prasarita Padottanasana (Wide-Legged Forward Bend) lightly supported at the hand for stability can help reduce discomfort, promoting flexibility. Gentle inversion poses, if comfortable, might aid in decompression of the spinal column.

Since you have Parkinson’s, consider focusing on activities that nurture fine motor skills like abhyanga and meditation, which help in maintaining body-mind coordination. Light to moderate physical activity customized to your ability level supports circulation and overall mobility.

Dont forget, prioritize hydration, aim for at least 8 glasses of warm or room-temperature water daily. Incorporating these practices mindfully might offer some relief, but remember, it’s important to balance respect for ayurvedic wisdom with ongoing consultation from your medical professionals to ensure safe and harmonized care.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
