Loose motion due to eat a spicy and oily food from the restaurant - #22997

Yash Singh

I had ordered food from a restaurant two days ago and yesterday which was very oily and spicy. Due to that I have been having loose motions since last two days. There is burning sensation in stomach 3/4 times a day. Please tell me some treatment for it, ayurvedic and home made, which would stop loose motions and remove the weakness caused by diarrhoea.

To handle the loose motion and burning sensation caused by the spicy, oily food, it’s essential to focus on balancing your Pitta dosha, calming your digestive system, and rehydrating. Here’s what you can try:

First things first, drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration from diarrhea. Coconut water, is a great choice as it’s natural and replenishing, with electolytes aiding hydration. Also, consider drinking buttermilk mixed with a pinch of roasted cumin powder and a little salt, it’s soothing and helps stabilize digestion.

In the realm of Ayurveda, a cooling and digestive herb like coriander seeds can be helpful. Boil one tablespoon of coriander seeds in two cups of water till it’s reduced to one cup. Strain and let cool, drink three times a day to balance Pitta and reduce stomach burn.

A simple remedy involves a banana – it’s gentle on the stomach. Mash a ripe banana with a bit of ghee and a pinch of cardamom powder, take twice daily. Bananas have pectin which helps firm up the stool.

Also, rice gruel (kanji), is both nourishing and easy to digest. Cook a cup of rice with more water than usual, let it turn soupy. Add a pinch of salt and have a bowl of this a couple of times a day. It helps calm the intestines and restore energy.

Ginger tea can help too. Slice fresh ginger, boil in water for 10 minutes, and sip on this throughout the day. Ginger supports Agni (digestive fire), when it’s needed.

Don’t forget rest is essential, allow your body to recover and build strength. Make sure your meals are simple, avoid spicy, oily and heavy foods for the next few days until your digestion improves. Stick to well-cooked and easily digestible foods.

If your symptoms persist for more than three days or worsen, it’s wise to see a healthcare professional to ensure there isn’t a more serious issue at play. Remember acute dehydration and severe symptoms warrant immediate medical attention.
