Navigating your headache woes alongside IBS and antidepressant medications presents a unique scenario, perfectly suited to Ayurvedic intervention, without stepping on your current treatment’s toes. Your headaches might align with either migraine or sinus issues, and Ayurveda can certainly lend a hand in unearthing their root causes, especially when you have ongoing systems like IBS that may intertwine.

In Ayurveda, headache often ties back to an imbalance in the Vata dosha, but Pitta plays a role when it comes to migraines, or Kapha when sinus issues lurk. Here the gentle route begins with Nasya therapy, fundamentally a nasal cleansing using gentle herbal oils like Anu Taila. Administering 1-2 drops in the morning helps unclog channels linked to migraines or sinus.

Diet wise, focusing on easily digestible foods regulates your Agni, helping mitigate both headaches and IBS. Warm meals, seasoned sparingly with cumin or ginger stabilize both Vata and Pitta. Cut back on spicy, sour, or fermented items and instead add ghee, which calms vitiated doshas.

Integrating yoga to your routine can also balance mind-body equilibrium. Simple pranayama skills – Anulom Vilom (alternate nostril breathing) or Ujjayi breath, done in morning, contributes to calmness and reduces Vata aggravation. However, avoid strenuous asanas during active headache phases.

Hydration mustn’t be overlooked especially warm water consumption, aiding in flushing out toxins without straining the digestive fire. Additionally, establishing regular meal times ensures balanced nutrient absorption and digestion.

It’s critical to consult your healthcare provider before making changes, given your medication regimen. In cases of persistent or escalating headaches, immediate medical care takes precedence over any Ayurvedic practice. Keeping a symptom diary - noting potential headache triggers, can provide clarity and is worth mentioning to your consulting physician.
