Indigestion accompanied by symptoms like bloating, constipation, fatigue, and the presence of undigested food in your stool indicates imbalanced Agni—your digestive fire. According to Ayurveda, the key to managing these issues is restoring balance to your digestive system and establishing regular elimination.

You might have a Vata and Pitta imbalance due to chronic gastritis and hiatus hernia. In terms of diet, begin incorporating freshly cooked and warm meals, emphasizing easy-to-digest foods like moong dal, warm vegetable soups, and rice. Avoid raw foods, spicy meals, and cold beverages, as they can aggravate Vata and Pitta. Drinking warm water with ginger or fennel seeds might help improve digestion.

Regulating your meal timings is crucial—try to eat at the same times daily. Avoid late-night eating and ensure a substantial break between supper and sleep to not overload your digestive system in the evening. Chew your food thoroughly for aiding digestion and absorption.

Addressing your constipation, you can take Triphala churna before bedtime, mixed with warm water, to promote bowel regularity. It’s known for balancing all three doshas and ensuring proper elimination without any dependency concerns.

While managing stress is equally important, practice gentle activities like yoga and pranayama to soothe your system. Specifically, the poses like Supta Baddha Konasana (reclining bound angle pose) or Pavanamuktasana (wind-relieving pose) might help in relieving bloating and promoting digestion.

Ensure adequate rest and a regular sleeping schedule to combat fatigue. Prioritize sleep as it’s crucial for restorative purposes; getting 7-8 hours of sleep each night helps to synchronize your body’s natural rhythms.

If symptoms persist or worsen, consult with a healthcare provider to explore any necessary medical treatments to complement these Ayurvedic approaches. Immediate medical attention is vital if you experience severe discomfort, weight loss or any alarming changes in symptoms.

Chronic gastritis, a hiatal hernia, and indigestion symptoms you’ve mentioned can often be attributed to an imbalance of the digestive fire, or agni, in Ayurvedic principles. When this fire is weak, the digestion becomes inefficient, leading to issues like bloating, constipation, and fatigue due to the accumulation of undigested or partially digested food. With your symptoms, there may be an imbalance in both the Pitta and Vata doshas, which should be addressed to improve your overall digestive health.

Focusing on strengthening agni and pacifying Vata and Pitta is key. First, incorporate ginger tea into your daily routine to help stimulate digestion. To prepare, boil a few slices of fresh ginger in water and sip it warm, particularly before meals. Another simple remedy is to chew a small piece of ginger with a pinch of salt and lime juice 15 minutes before meals, which can enhance digestive enzymes.

Diet plays a significant role—opt for warm, cooked foods that are easy on your digestion. Avoid raw foods, caffeine, spicy or oily meals, and late-night eating, as these can further aggravate Pitta and destabilize digestive processes. Include fiber-rich foods like oatmeal and well-cooked vegetables to ease constipation without overloading your agni.

Practicing regular, gentle physical activity, such as walking or yoga, can help balance Vata and support gastrointestinal regularity. Focus on Yogic postures like Pavanamuktasana and Vajrasana, which specifically target improved digestion.

When it comes to herbal remedies, triphala is known for its excellent benefits for digestive health. Take about half a teaspoon of Triphala churna with warm water before bedtime to promote bowel regularity and detox. You might also consider consulting with a trained Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized herbal formulations and to ensure compatibility with any current conditions or treatments.

Be cautious—given the severity of your hiatus hernia and chronic gastritis, it’s critical to work with your healthcare provider to rule out more serious complications and to continue observing regular medical advice. If symptoms of pain or discomfort increase, reach out to a medical professional promptly.
