For managing autoimmune hepatitis while looking through an Ayurvedic lens, it’s essential to understand the balance of doshas, particularly focusing on Pitta dosha, which can be aggravated in liver conditions. The liver’s health in Ayurveda is primarily associated with the Pitta dosha and Rakta dhatu, so we should aim to pacify Pitta and cleanse the blood.

Arjun chhal is indeed useful for cardiovascular health and can be taken due to its liver-supportive properties, but timing and quantity are essential. Continue with Arjun chhal as decoction, but ensure it’s consumed in moderation; too much can heat up the system. Daily intake of a cup, after meal can be beneficial during cooler months.

Garlic, known for its immunomodulatory effects, can also influence the liver, so careful intake is needed. Limit it to 2-3 times a week rather than daily empty stomach as it may cause digestive fire (agni) disturbance if overconsumed.

Amla (Indian gooseberry) juice combined with turmeric is quite supportive due to its anti-inflammatory effects and helps reduce Pitta. Continue with these, but ensure amla juice is freshly prepared and consumed within 20-30 min to preserve its potency.

Livelihood changes should include cooling pranayamas like Sheetali and Sheetkari, which helps in balancing Pitta. Practicing early morning, before meals best supports digestion and energy levels.

Regarding the fibrosis, adopting a liver-friendly diet is crucial. Include foods like bitter gourd, bottle gourd, and carrots; aim for a diet rich in bitter-tasting foods to help cleanse and nourish the liver.

Please remember to remain under regular care of your hepatologist or medical professional who can monitor your husband’s condition actively with conventional tests and treatments. Immediate medical attention is prioritized as required because Ayurvedic suggestions complement but not replace necessary clinical care.

Understanding Autoimmune hepatitis through an Ayurvedic lens means looking into potential doshic imbalances, particularly pitta, as this disorder often involves inflammation and immune dysfunction. Without immediate access to his full medical history and tests, I can suggest general support strategies but please balance these with professional allopathic guidance due to the condition’s serious nature.

First, if he’s currently on immunosuppressive treatment, don’t stop without consulting his doctor. Immunosuppressives are critical for managing AIH. Ayurveda can, however, offer supportive measures.

He should integrate foods and practices that calm pitta: eat cooling, hydrating foods such as cucumber, aloe vera, and bitter greens like dandelion. Cow ghee can help reduce inflammation and sooth the liver. Turmeric can continue to be used but in moderation, as too much may elevate pitta when used long-term. Ensure meals are consistent and avoid fasting or erratic eating.

Practice pranayama, focusing on cooling breaths, like shitali breathing, to manage stress and reduce internal heat. Gentle asanas like viparita karani can support liver function too.

Triphaladi kwath or decoction can help in detoxifying; however, consult a practitioner before using any Siddha or Ayurvedic formulations with current Western medication.

Always keep an eye out for signs like jaundice exacerbating, confusion, or sudden drop in energy levels, which would require immediate medical attention. Balancing contemporary treatment with ancient wisdom must be approached with caution to effectively support his healing process.
