The presence of fatty lumps, often known as lipomas, in the hands, thighs, and stomach can be bothersome. While surgery is a common solution, if you’re seeking an Ayurvedic approach, we can aim to understand the underlying issues from a dosha perspective. Lipomas often are linked to kapha imbalances, where there’s an accumulation of fat tissue that isn’t being metabolized correctly.
Firstly, enhancing your agni or digestive fire is crucial. Weak digestion can lead to the formation of these fatty lumps. To boost agni, consider using trikatu churna, a combination of black pepper, long pepper, and ginger, which aids digestion and helps manage kapha. You can take about 1/4 teaspoon mixed with honey before meals, twice a day. This should help address the constipation and gastric issues too, which might be interconnected with your lipomas.
Next, look at incorporating some routine dietary adjustments. Reduce heavy, oily, and fried foods, as well as dairy, which tend to increase kapha. Lean towards warm, light meals with spices like turmeric, cumin, coriander, and fennel. These not only help digestion but also assist in breaking down tissue accumulations.
Practices such as dry brushing can stimulate circulation and promote lymphatic drainage. Use a natural-bristle brush, gently moving in circular motions, starting from the extremities towards the heart.
Herbs like guggul and kanchanar are beneficial; kanchanar guggulu is a classical formulation used for growths and nodules. You may take 1–2 tablets, twice a day after meals, with warm water.
Finally, regular physical activity is essential. Moderate exercise enhances metabolism and supports the body in reducing any excess adipose tissue naturally.
If these lumps grow or cause concern, it’s important to seek medical attention to rule out any serious conditions. Always consider consulting with an experienced Ayurvedic practitioner in person for personalized care.
