does amla increase blood pressure - #40649

Asher

I am really frustated right now because I've been dealing with weird health issues lately. My doctor said something about my blood pressure being a bit low, and amidst all this, I've been hearing people rave about amla and its health benefits. Like, do you guys know does amla increase blood pressure? I thought it was supposed to be good for the body, you know? I've been drinking amla juice every morning for a couple weeks—my mom swears by it for everything! But I've also noticed that sometimes I feel kinda off, just more tired than usual, and I don’t know if I should continu eating it. I read online that it can help with digestion and skin, but then I saw a post that mentioned it could also affect blood pressure in ways I did not expect! If I mix juicing amla with my meals am I doing something wrong? I saw some forums saying contradictory things about are benefits and drawbacks. Has anyone else noticed any changes in their blood pressure from using amla? Just trying to figure out if I should keep drinking it or look for something else. Appreciate any thoughts from you guys!

Amla, also known as Indian gooseberry, is indeed prized in Ayurveda for its numerous health benefits. However, it is generally not linked to causing an increase in blood pressure. In fact, amla is often recommended for its potential to support heart health and stabilize blood pressure due to its rich vitamin C content and antioxidant properties. It could, in theory, slightly aid in lowering blood pressure more than raising it.

Your feeling of tiredness and other symptoms may be coincidental or linked to other lifestyle or dietary causes. Amla is known to pacify Pitta dosha while nourishing the body’s tissues or dhatus. Given your symptoms of low blood pressure, it’s essential to ensure that your diet is well-balanced and you are getting enough hydration and essential nutrients like salt and minerals through other sources. It might be wise to discuss these symptoms with a healthcare provider, especially considering any underlying conditions or medications you might be taking.

If you continue to integrate amla into your daily routine, consider how you are consuming it. For instance, having amla juice on an empty stomach could be beneficial for digestion, but always ensure it is part of a more comprehensive diet plan. Consumption with meals is generally safe and can complement a balanced diet.

If you feel amla is not suiting you, pay attention to how your body responds and adjust accordingly. Moderation is key and if the tiredness persists, maybe give it a pause and observe any changes in your energy levels. Ayurveda emphasizes personalized health treatments; what works for one may not work for another. In conclusion, if there’s concern about your blood pressure or any other symptoms, it’s crucial to tailor your diet under professional advice, and if needed, find alternatives that suit your Prakriti more aptly. Consider physical activities, stress management, and other lifestyle factors too in addressing your health goals.

Amla, or Indian gooseberry, is typically associated with various health benefits, but its impact on blood pressure isn’t as straightforward as you might think. Generally, amla is known for its rich Vitamin C content and antioxidant properties, which can enhance overall health and help maintain homeostasis within the body. It does not directly increase blood pressure; in fact, it might help in regulating it since it can support the health of the heart and circulatory system.

However, since you mention feeling more tired than usual, it is essential to consider several factors. Amla can have a cooling effect, which might not align well with your doshic balance, especially if you’re experiencing a vata imbalance, which can cause fatigue and low blood pressure. In Siddha-Ayurveda, understanding one’s prakriti (body constitution) and the current doshic state is crucial before introducing any remedy in the regimen. If your natural constitution or current condition is leaning more towards vata, amla could potentially exacerbate your symptoms.

It’s also important to assess how you’re consuming amla. Preparing it with other balancing ingredients, like honey or warm spices, could offset its cooling nature. If the juices are consumed on an empty stomach, the sourness might trigger unwanted reactions for some individuals.

Since you’re noticing these symptoms, consider discussing with a practitioner who understands your entire health profile or monitoring your response closely. A short break from amla, or altering how it’s consumed, might be wise. If symptoms persist or worsen, a more thorough health assessment is needed, as fatigue and blood pressure irregularities can stem from various causes beyond diet alone. Always keep professional medical advice as your priority for any unusual health shifts.
