Doctors’ responses

Your symptoms of indigestion, acidity, frequent burping, changes in stool color and thickness, along with bloating and gas, suggest a long-standing imbalance in your digestive fire (Agni) and possibly aggravated Vata and Pitta doshas. To address these concerns, here’s a comprehensive Ayurvedic approach to improve digestion, relieve acidity, and support overall gut health: 1. Improving Digestion Take Triphala (1 teaspoon) with warm water at bedtime to cleanse the digestive system and support regular bowel movements. Consume Hingwashtak Churna (1 teaspoon) before meals to aid digestion and prevent gas formation. Drinking a warm glass of water with a pinch of ginger powder and rock salt in the morning can help stimulate digestion and reduce acidity. 2. Herbal Remedies for Acidity • Take Shankhapushpi (2 teaspoons of syrup or powder) to calm the digestive tract and reduce acidity. • Amla (Indian gooseberry) can be consumed daily (as juice or powder) to balance stomach acid and improve digestion. • Drink Aloe vera juice (10–15 ml) in the morning to soothe the stomach lining and reduce acidity. 3. Dietary Recommendations Follow a Pitta-pacifying diet by avoiding spicy, fried, and acidic foods that can worsen acidity. Consume easily digestible foods like khichdi (a mix of rice and lentils), soups, and steamed vegetables. Avoid large meals, especially at night, and ensure you eat smaller, frequent meals to prevent overloading your digestive system. 4. Managing Gas and Bloating Include Cumin, Coriander, and Fennel seeds in your diet. You can drink their tea (boil 1 teaspoon of each in water) after meals to help with bloating and gas. Practice gentle yoga poses like Pawanmuktasana (Wind-Relieving Pose) and Vajrasana (after meals) to release trapped gas and aid digestion. 5. Lifestyle Adjustments Avoid lying down immediately after eating, as it can worsen acidity and indigestion. Make sure to engage in light physical activity like walking after meals to aid digestion and improve gut motility. Maintain a consistent sleep schedule and ensure that you have a peaceful, relaxed environment during sexual activity to avoid triggering acidity. 6. Additional Ayurvedic Support For persistent digestive issues, consider consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner for Panchakarma therapies like Virechana (therapeutic purgation) to cleanse the body and improve digestive function. By following this approach consistently for 4–6 weeks, you should experience improvements in digestion, reduced acidity, and better gut health. If symptoms persist, seeking personalized care from an Ayurvedic practitioner is recommended.
