Diabet 2 type ayurveda treatment - #14892

Aubrey

Feeling tired all the time, legs heavy, weird tingling in my fingers after meals. At first thought it was just stress, or maybe I’m getting old too fast. But then started checking my sugar levels… bam, 180-200 after eating. Doctor confirmed - Diabet 2 type. No surprises, tbh, my dad had it too. Diet changes? Yeah, I tried. Cut down on rice, stopped adding sugar to chai, even switched to brown roti instead of white. But the numbers don’t budge much. Morning sugar still around 140-150. Walking every day, sometimes even jog a little. But weight? Stuck at 92kg for months. Meds? Doc gave Metformin. Stomach’s a mess since then, running to the washroom too often. Some friends told me to try Ayurveda for Diabet 2 type, said it’s more natural and won’t have these side effects. Not sure what to take tho. Some say Vijaysar wood is good, some say Gudmar, others talk about bitter gourd juice. Honestly, I don’t know what works and what’s just marketing. I also read somewhere that Ayurveda looks at digestion issues, liver health, stress… Could that be why my Diabet 2 type isn’t improving? I do have a lot of stress, work is crazy, barely sleep 5-6 hours. Maybe it’s all connected? Is there actually a way to reverse Diabet 2 type naturally? Or at least manage it without these awful stomach issues from Metformin? Any herbs or daily habits that ACTUALLY help and not just “eat healthy and exercise” because I already do that. Would appreciate any advice!

Yes, Ayurveda offers a comprehensive approach to managing type 2 diabetes by addressing digestion, metabolism, stress, and overall lifestyle. Your symptoms, including fatigue, heavy legs, tingling after meals, and digestive issues from Metformin, indicate imbalances that go beyond just high blood sugar. Ayurveda sees diabetes as a disorder of improper metabolism (Madhumeha), often linked to weak digestion (Mandagni), insulin resistance, and stress-related imbalances. Since your blood sugar remains high despite diet changes and exercise, your liver and digestive system might not be processing sugars efficiently. Vijaysar wood is effective for regulating blood sugar levels when soaked in water overnight and consumed in the morning. Gudmar (Gymnema Sylvestre) helps reduce sugar cravings and improves insulin function. Bitter gourd juice can lower blood glucose, but it works best when taken fresh on an empty stomach. Ayurvedic formulations like Chandraprabha Vati, Shilajit, and Triphala help with sugar metabolism and digestion. Managing stress is equally important, as high cortisol levels can worsen insulin resistance. Practicing Abhyanga (self-massage with warm sesame oil) and deep breathing techniques like Anulom Vilom can help. Poor sleep also contributes to weight gain and sugar imbalances, so focusing on improving sleep quality with herbs like Brahmi or Ashwagandha can support overall health. If Metformin is causing severe digestive distress, Ayurvedic alternatives like Nisha Amalaki (a combination of turmeric and amla) or Triphala with honey at night can help regulate digestion and sugar metabolism naturally. Reversal is possible with strict adherence to Ayurvedic principles, but it requires patience, a disciplined lifestyle, and consistent herbal support tailored to your body's needs.

Your Type 2 Diabetes (Madhumeha) stems from Kapha/Vata imbalance, impaired digestion (Agni), and stress. Here’s a natural management plan: Herbal Medicine- Gudmar: Balances sugar levels, reduces cravings. Karela (Bitter Gourd): Juice 3-4x/week reduces sugar. Methi: Soak 1 tsp seeds overnight, chew in the morning. Triphala: Detoxifies liver and aids digestion. Digestive Support Amla: Improves liver health and insulin sensitivity. Digestive teas (cumin, coriander, fennel) reduce bloating. Stress/Sleep Ashwagandha: Lowers stress and stabilizes sugar. Nadi Shodhana Pranayama: Reduces stress. Aim for 7+ hours of sleep to restore balance. Diet/Lifestyle Avoid refined carbs, dairy, cold foods. Bitter foods help regulate sugar. Intermittent fasting (12-14 hours) improves insulin sensitivity. Walk 10-15 mins after meals to lower glucose. Follow for 4-6 weeks for results. Monitor sugar levels and adjust as needed.

Hey there, sounds like you're going through a lot right now, but honestly it also sounds like you're doing your best to manage this situation. The Ayurvedic perspective considers diabetes, or Madhumeha, as a complex interplay of dosha imbalances, particularly involving Kapha dosha but also aspects of Vata and Pitta. Often, it's linked to digestion, excess weight, and lifestyle factors, so spot on - it's all connected. Let's talk food first. You're already on the right track with diet changes, but maybe tweak a bit more. Focus on incorporating foods that kindle Agni (digestive fire) without increasing Kapha. Try to include more bitter gourd (karela) in your diet, perhaps as a juice on an empty stomach or as a cooked veggie — it’s known to help regulate blood sugar levels. Also incorporate fenugreek seeds, soaked overnight in warm water. They can be a good addition to your morning routine; they support glucose metabolism. Vijaysar wood is often advised for diabetes, and it’s not just marketing. It helps in regulating blood sugar levels and managing symptoms. You can use it by soaking a piece in water overnight, and drinking the water next day. Gudmar, as you mentioned, can be chewed fresh or taken as powder; it's another great aid in maintaining healthy sugar levels. Sleep sounds like it's taking a toll and Ayurveda really emphasizes good, long sleep as part of treatment. Try ending your day with a calming routine – maybe a warm Abhyanga massage before bed, using sesame oil to soothe Vata, and drag yourself away from screens an hour before you sleep, if you can. And see if you can squeeze a few minutes of meditation or light pranayama into your day. It's amazing how just a few deep breaths can clear your head and help with stress management. Stress impacts our body in a huge way, Ayurveda actually views it as a trigger for many conditions. So, make it a point to address stress constructively. Oh, and those jogs are great, keep it up! But adding something more balanced, like yoga - it will support weight management too and improve overall metabolism. Metformin-related stomach issues are tricky but keep an eye on it. Just a lil’ reminder: Ayurvedic remedies can complement but aren't substitutes for medications prescribed by your doc; keep them in the loop for adjusting meds. Hopefully, these suggestions don’t feel like a chore but rather help you transition into more balanced living, both physically and mentally. Remember, reversing diabetes naturally involves patience and a bit of experimenting with lifestyle. You’re on the right path! All the best with it.
