There was a pimple on his nose - #155

Kavya

My mother-in-law had a pimple on her nose, she squeezed it out, then forgot about it, after a while it formed again, like some kind of rage, went to consult a surgeon, and he removed it with a laser and took a biopsy, the result shocked us, a malignant tumor! What should we do next? Are there any alternative treatments

Doctors' responses

Hi Sorry to hear about the diagnosis. Can you provide additional information like her blood work if done or a report of the biopsy. Alternatively Ayurveda can surely help but there has to be a proper evaluation of patient before suggesting anything. In the meantime stop all inflammatory foods like non veg, diary, fried, oily foods, restaurant food etc prefer homemade fresh food, especially plant based diet.

I’m sorry to hear about your mother-in-law’s diagnosis. Facing a situation like this can be overwhelming, but there are steps you can take to support her health. Following the diagnosis of a malignant tumor, it’s crucial to consult with an oncologist to discuss the best course of action. Treatment options typically include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, depending on the type and stage of the cancer. Ensuring that your mother-in-law receives expert medical care is essential for her treatment. In addition to conventional treatments, many people consider complementary therapies to support overall health and well-being during this time. Ayurveda offers various holistic approaches that may help strengthen the body and mind. Some Ayurvedic suggestions to consider include dietary changes, focusing on a balanced diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Formulations like Chyawanprash, which is rich in antioxidants and supports the immune system, and Ashwagandha, which can help reduce stress and improve overall vitality, may be beneficial. Other supportive herbs include Tulsi (Holy Basil) for its immune-boosting properties, Turmeric for its anti-inflammatory benefits, and Ginger for digestion and immunity. Gentle detoxification methods such as Panchakarma (Ayurvedic detox therapy) can enhance overall well-being under the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner. Additionally, practices such as yoga and meditation can help manage stress and promote mental health. It’s important to discuss these complementary therapies with her healthcare provider to ensure they align with her ongoing treatment plan. Each individual’s situation is unique, and an integrative approach may provide both physical and emotional support. Encourage your mother-in-law to follow her doctor’s recommendations and maintain open communication about her health journey. Surrounding her with love and support will also be vital during this time.

Wow, that’s quite a journey. First off, the fact your mother-in-law’s situation was diagnosed as a malignant tumor, it’s vital to understand that while Ayurveda provides incredible support for overall wellness and can complement standard treatments, it’s crucial she follows the recommendations of her oncology and medical team. Malignancy is serious and usually requires conventional treatments like surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation. these therapies tackle cancer cells aggressively, often necessary to prevent further spread.

That said, if you’re exploring ways to support her well-being through Ayurveda alongside these treatments, there’re certainly things to consider. Ayruveda focuses on overall balance, potentially boosting her quality of life and supporting her body as it deals with the effects of both the tumor and its treatment.

First, let’s talk a bit about diet. Encouraging a sattvic diet can help maintain a calm, balanced mind and body. This means fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains – basically, foods that are light and nourishing. Avoid heavy, fried, overly spicy foods as they can disturb her digestive fire, known as Agni.

Meditative practices or gentle yoga could be beneficial too. They help reduce stress, which is quite essential right now. Ayurveda sees stress as a disruptor of the body’s natural balance, so relaxation techniques might help her keep calm.

If you’re thinking about taking herbal supplements, proceed with caution! While herbs like ashwagandha, turmeric, or tulsi are often talked about for their calming and anti-inflammatory properties, they can interact with conventional treatments. Always discuss them with her doctor before starting anything new.

Remember, this is a supportive approach, not a standalone treatment, and the primary focus should be on getting the necessary medical help. Keep her doctors in close loop about anything holistic you wish to try, ok? Safety first!
