hemoglobin normal value - #17501

Anonymously

Last week, I went for a routine check-up, and my doctor suggested a blood test since I was feeling tired all the time. The test results showed that my hemoglobin normal value is lower than the usual range. I didn’t think much of it at first, but after looking it up online, I saw that low hemoglobin can cause fatigue, dizziness, and even shortness of breath. For the past few months, I’ve noticed that I feel weak even after getting enough sleep. Climbing stairs or walking for long distances makes me feel exhausted, which never used to happen before. Sometimes, I get headaches in the evening, and my skin looks paler than before. Could this all be related to my hemoglobin normal value? I have always been a vegetarian, so I don’t eat meat, but I do eat green vegetables and fruits regularly. Still, I’m not sure if my diet is providing enough iron or other nutrients to maintain my hemoglobin normal value. I haven’t taken any supplements yet because I want to understand if Ayurveda has natural ways to balance it. Are there specific Ayurvedic herbs or foods that can help improve my hemoglobin normal value naturally? Should I make any lifestyle changes to improve my blood health? I have also heard that some people have high hemoglobin levels instead of low ones. What would be the best way to balance it according to Ayurveda? Also, does Ayurveda recommend any specific types of yoga, breathing exercises, or herbal tonics to maintain a hemoglobin normal value? I want to fix this issue without relying too much on artificial supplements.

Your symptoms suggest low hemoglobin (Pandu Roga in Ayurveda), which can result from poor iron absorption, weak digestion, or an imbalance in Rakta Dhatu (blood tissue). Since you’re vegetarian, your iron intake may not be sufficient, or your body may not be absorbing it well. Ayurveda emphasizes strengthening digestion (Agni) to improve nutrient absorption, so including ginger, cumin, ajwain, and Triphala in your diet can be helpful. Drinking pomegranate or beetroot juice with a pinch of rock salt can also naturally enhance iron levels. For Ayurvedic treatment, Chyawanprash (1 teaspoon daily), Draksha Avaleha, or Punarnava Mandoor (1 tablet twice a day with warm water) can help boost hemoglobin. Iron-rich foods like black sesame seeds, dates, figs, and amla should be included in your diet. Avoid tea and coffee after meals, as they reduce iron absorption. Instead, drink warm water with lemon to aid digestion. If your digestion is weak, a mild Triphala infusion at night can support better nutrient absorption. Incorporate breathing exercises like Bhastrika and Anulom-Vilom to improve oxygen levels and blood circulation. Yoga postures like Sarvangasana and Surya Namaskar are beneficial for blood health. Regular Ayurvedic care, mindful eating, and a balanced lifestyle can gradually restore your hemoglobin levels and overall vitality. If fatigue persists, consider checking B12 and folic acid levels, as deficiencies in these nutrients can also contribute to anemia.

In Ayurveda, low hemoglobin and fatigue are often linked to an imbalance in the Vata dosha, which can affect digestion and nutrient absorption, leading to deficiencies in iron and other essential nutrients. To naturally improve hemoglobin levels, Ayurveda recommends foods rich in iron, such as leafy greens, sesame seeds, and lentils, paired with vitamin C-rich foods like citrus fruits to enhance absorption. Herbs like Ashwagandha and Shatavari are known for their rejuvenating properties and can support overall energy and vitality. You can also try using Amla (Indian gooseberry) to boost iron absorption and support blood health. Incorporating warm, easily digestible foods and avoiding excess raw or cold foods can help improve digestion, which is crucial for nutrient absorption. In terms of lifestyle, gentle yoga poses like Forward Bend (Uttanasana) and breathing exercises like Anulom Vilom (alternate nostril breathing) can support circulation, energy flow, and overall well-being. Consistent practices, along with a nourishing diet, can help restore balance and improve your hemoglobin levels without relying on supplements. If you also have signs of high hemoglobin, the diet and herbs should be adjusted to balance the excess heat or Pitta, focusing on cooling foods and calming herbs like coriander and mint.
