Hypothyroidism is metabolic disorder you can follow regular exercise and plant based diet Take some ayurveda medicine Kanchnar gugulu Arogyawardhini vati Punarnawasav Triphla powder
Hi Arti,
Can you tell me if your daughter is experiencing any symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, hair thinning, or mood changes, which are often linked to thyroid issues? Also, how has her diet and lifestyle been in recent months? While Ayurvedic treatments like Ashwagandha, Guduchi, and Kanchanar Guggulu may support thyroid health, it’s important to follow the doctor’s advice regarding thyroid hormone replacement. After checking her TSH levels, you can discuss a plan with the doctor to gradually reduce medication if needed, but any changes should be closely monitored.
I would suggest you not to stop abruptly Start ayurvedic medicine as a supportive and slowly can taper according to levels and then stop
It’s understandable to want to explore alternatives, especially for someone so young. Increasing TSH can really throw the body off balance, and Ayurveda offers a holistic perspective to it. But stopping thyroxine outright might not be the best step immediately without a proper plan… It can be more complex than it seems and we need a holistic approach here.
Firstly, let’s consider your daughter’s dosha - which could be influenced by her lifestyle, diet, stress levels, and even sleep patterns. If there’s any prithvi (earth) or kaphya imbalance, it might manifest in symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, or cold intolerance. Thyroid imbalances are sometimes linked to vata disturbances too, with airy-type qualities taking over and making things chaotic.
Alright, with Ayurveda, it would be ideal to simultaneously nurture her agni (digestive fire). Encourage her to consume warm, easily digestible foods. No cold foods or drinks, telling you they dampen that agni! Focus on including turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, and cumin in meals. These little spice warriors are friends with her metabolism… Prepare meals that are freshly cooked and avoid processed foods.
Another aspect is stress - it’s a sneaky thing with thyroid. Regular abhyanga (oil massage) with sesame oil could help grounding vata, calming nerves. And if she can manage to incorporate yoga and pranayama, even simple breath work can support a healthier thyroid.
However, it’s critical you don’t immediately stop the medication without consulting the doctor first and have a methodical transition plan. Work closely with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner and her current doctor to monitor her TSH levels closely, ensuring any treatment is safe. Sometimes, a combination of modern and traditional methods yields the best balance.
You guys should also try Triphala and ashwagandha! Adding these cautiously can promote hormonal balance. But again, one step at a time. Safe, informed choices are what Ayurveda is all about. Be patient with the process. Your daughter’s body will let you know what it needs.
