Since no structural issues (like PCOD) have been found, your irregular periods may be due to hormonal imbalances, stress, poor digestion, or weak reproductive energy (Apana Vata imbalance). Ayurveda focuses on regulating the cycle naturally with herbs, diet, and lifestyle changes. If interested I can guide you further

Dr. Swathimutthu Prasad B N
I’m Dr. Swathimutthu B N, and my practice is deeply rooted in the Ayurvedic care of women’s health, with a focus on balancing hormones, enhancing fertility, and supporting every stage of the reproductive journey. My core areas of expertise include managing menstrual irregularities, painful periods, PCOS, endometriosis, PMS, and menopausal challenges through individualized, holistic care. I also provide preconception counseling and comprehensive postpartum support to promote safe and natural recovery. One of my key strengths lies in addressing infertility in both men and women. I integrate Ayurvedic detoxification therapies like Panchakarma, herbal formulations, and lifestyle interventions to naturally enhance fertility, regulate ovulation, and improve sperm health. My goal is to identify and treat the root causes of reproductive imbalances rather than just addressing surface-level symptoms. Each consultation begins with an in-depth assessment of the patient’s Prakriti (constitution) and Vikriti (current imbalances), allowing me to create highly personalized treatment plans. These plans often include Ayurvedic therapies, dietary adjustments, yoga, pranayama, and stress-relief techniques—customized for long-term vitality and well-being. My approach is not just about treatment, but about walking alongside my patients throughout their healing journey. Whether you are preparing for pregnancy, managing chronic hormonal issues, or navigating the emotional shifts of menopause, I provide close follow-up, emotional support, and continuous guidance. I am committed to building a compassionate, evidence-based practice rooted in Ayurvedic science. By combining ancient wisdom with modern insights, I aim to empower each individual to reclaim their health naturally, safely, and sustainably. It sounds frustrating to deal with irregular periods for such a long time. In Ayurveda, irregular periods can be seen as an imbalance in the Vata and Pitta doshas. When Vata is imbalanced, it can cause inconsistency in menstrual flow; a dominant Pitta may lead to inflammation and discomfort. Here’s a detailed plan to help manage and possibly regularize your cycle through Ayurveda: 1. **Dietary Adjustments**: - Focus on a warm, nourishing diet to pacify Vata. Include warm soups, stews, and whole grains. Avoid raw and cold foods as they can aggravate Vata. - Opt for milder spices like cumin, coriander, and fennel — these improve digestion and balance doshas. - Limit caffeine and spicy, acidic, or fried foods. They can increase Pitta, affecting menstrual health. 2. **Lifestyle Tips**: - Establish a regular daily routine. Try to wake up and sleep at the same time each day to balance your body’s internal clock. - Continue with light exercises like walking or yoga but avoid over-exerting as it can worsen Vata. 3. **Herbal Support**: - Herbs like Ashwagandha and Shatavari can help. Ashwagandha stabilizes Vata, reducing stress and anxiety, while Shatavari nourishes reproductive tissues. - Prepare a decoction of ginger and fennel seeds. Having it daily may aid in improving flow regulation. Boil a teaspoon of each in water and drink it warm. 4. **Mindfulness**: - Stress can impact your period cycle significantly. Engage in stress-reducing activities such as meditation or deep-breathing exercises daily. 5. **Massage and Warm Baths**: - Abhyanga (self-massage with warm sesame oil) before bath can help calm Vata. - Warm baths, especially during menstruation, can help ease cramps and improve flow. Consistency is key, and it may take few months to notice changes. Consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner to fine-tune this approach based on your Prakriti. If you continue to experience issues, or if there’s significant concern, consider a follow-up with a health professional to ensure there's no underlying condition needing immediate medical attention.
