At the age of 42 and noticing hair fall primarily from the middle part of your head, it’s important to consider both internal and external factors. Ayurveda attributes hair fall often to imbalances in the doshas, particularly Vata and Pitta. In your case, it seems dryness, indicated by the dandruff in winter, could be a contributing factor. Here are a few suggestions that should help manage hair fall and promote hair growth.
First, consider incorporating a nourishing hair oil routine at least twice a week. Use warm coconut oil or bhringraj oil to massage your scalp gently. The warmth of the oil improves circulation, and the nourishment from the oil can solve the dryness issue, aiding in reducing dandruff. You can leave the oil for at least an hour before washing it off.
Switching your shampoo might also be beneficial, as some shampoos can strip away natural oils from your scalp. Look for a mild, sulfate-free shampoo preferably with natural ingredients like aloe vera or neem which are softer on the scalp.
Your diet plays a crucial role in hair health, so make sure you’re consuming a balanced diet rich in proteins, iron, and essential fatty acids. Lentils, nuts, seeds, green leafy vegetables, and whole grains can support healthy hair growth.
Hydration is often overlooked. Make sure you’re drinking enough water throughout the day to keep your scalp hydrated.
In terms of lifestyle, reducing stress through regular yoga or meditation can be beneficial. High stress levels can exacerbate hair fall, so finding ways to manage it is crucial.
Finally, pay attention to your digestive health, as Ayurveda places a lot of emphasis on ‘agni’ or digestive fire. Proper digestion and elimination ensure that nutrients are absorbed well, supporting overall health including your hair.
If your hair fall continues or worsens, it might be best to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner in person for a more personalized assessment. Congratulations, you are taking the right steps by addressing this matter early on!
