It sounds like you're experiencing a combination of muscle atrophy on the right side and trouble with your knee, which could be contributing to your difficulty in gaining weight. Let's consider some Ayurvedic perspectives that may provide you with a different angle and hopefully, some relief. Firstly, muscle wasting or atrophy may relate to an imbalance in the Vata dosha. Vata is responsible for movement and if it goes haywire, it can lead to depletion. Incorporating foods that pacify Vata—such as warm, cooked meals, whole grains, and healthy fats—can be quite beneficial. Emphasize dishes like kichari, with ghee for added nourishment. Small, frequent meals rather than large ones may also help your digestive fire or agni to work optimally, supporting better nutrient absorption and aiding weight gain. For your knee, while the exact cause isn't pinpointed, turmeric could be a gentle and natural support. A daily dose of turmeric, a teaspoon in warm milk or water, might help reduce inflammation and offer some relief. Also, if possible, engage in gentle exercises like yoga or swimming. These activities support muscle health without over-straining your knee. It's important to practice Abhyanga (self-massage) with warm sesame oil to invigorate circulation. This might help in muscle building and alleviate stiffness in your knee. Be consistent, doing it daily before a warm bath or shower for optimal benefits. If these approaches don't provide visible improvements within a month, consider consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner in-person to explore specific herbal formulations tailored to your unique body constitution, or prakriti. Keep an open communication line with your healthcare providers. It's crucial they know of any complementary treatments you're pursuing. If your symptoms worsen, seek immediate medical attention. Remember, self-care and lifestyle adjustments can guide but it’s vital to adapt according to your body's responses.
