I am having multiple joints pain since 3 months, I got chikunguniya, since then my pain is continues, did Ra factor it’s normal, doctors are saying this will gradually decrease what can i do to relieve the pain and stiffness

In the aftermath of chikungunya, joint pain and stiffness can indeed linger longer than expected. While modern medicine tells us these symptoms will gradually decrease, Ayurveda offers some ways to ease the journey along. The pain you’re experiencing ties into Vata imbalance, so a focus on pacifying Vata will be helpful.

Firstly, consider making some adjustments to your diet. Warm, nourishing foods that are easy to digest are key. Try incorporating more cooked vegetables, soups, and stews. Ginger tea may offer a soothing effect, as its known to alleviate inflammation. Avoid Vata aggravating foods like cold salads, raw vegetables, and too much caffein.

External therapies can be advantageous as well. Abhyanga (self-massage) with warm sesame oil can help with stiffness and improve circulation. Gently massage the affected joints each morning, then follow with a warm bath to enhance absorption. Another beneficial practice is using a warm compress with a cloth soaked in a decoction of Dashamoola—this targets pain and supports joint health.

On the lifestyle front, maintain regular activity without overexertion. Simple yoga or gentle stretching exercises can support mobility and ease joint tension. Avoid staying idle for long periods as excess rest can worsen stiffness.

Internally, Ashwagandha, with its adaptogenic properties, may be supportive, helping balance Vata and providing pain relief. Prior to beginning any supplements, ensure it’s suitable for you by consulting with an Ayurvedic practitioner.

Lastly, ensure adequate rest, as recovery from chikungunya requires time for the body to heal fully. Trust your body’s process, while gently supporting it with these holistic measures. If additional symptoms or any concerns arise, do seek a professional opinion, as safety and health should be the priority.
