Doctors’ responses

Dr. Swathimutthu Prasad B N
I’m Dr. Swathimutthu B N, and my practice is deeply rooted in the Ayurvedic care of women’s health, with a focus on balancing hormones, enhancing fertility, and supporting every stage of the reproductive journey. My core areas of expertise include managing menstrual irregularities, painful periods, PCOS, endometriosis, PMS, and menopausal challenges through individualized, holistic care. I also provide preconception counseling and comprehensive postpartum support to promote safe and natural recovery. One of my key strengths lies in addressing infertility in both men and women. I integrate Ayurvedic detoxification therapies like Panchakarma, herbal formulations, and lifestyle interventions to naturally enhance fertility, regulate ovulation, and improve sperm health. My goal is to identify and treat the root causes of reproductive imbalances rather than just addressing surface-level symptoms. Each consultation begins with an in-depth assessment of the patient’s Prakriti (constitution) and Vikriti (current imbalances), allowing me to create highly personalized treatment plans. These plans often include Ayurvedic therapies, dietary adjustments, yoga, pranayama, and stress-relief techniques—customized for long-term vitality and well-being. My approach is not just about treatment, but about walking alongside my patients throughout their healing journey. Whether you are preparing for pregnancy, managing chronic hormonal issues, or navigating the emotional shifts of menopause, I provide close follow-up, emotional support, and continuous guidance. I am committed to building a compassionate, evidence-based practice rooted in Ayurvedic science. By combining ancient wisdom with modern insights, I aim to empower each individual to reclaim their health naturally, safely, and sustainably. If you’re seeking a thoughtful, personalized, and holistic approach to women’s health and fertility, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

It sounds like your concerns could be linked to an underlying imbalance in your dosha, particularly concerning the Vata dosha. Vata, when imbalanced, can lead to symptoms like unpredictable weight changes, lack of appetite, dry skin, and even hairfall. Ayurveda emphasizes understanding your prakriti (natural constitution) and dhatus (body tissues) to craft a suitable regimen for you. To begin with, enhancing your agni or digestive fire is crucial so that your body can assimilate nutrients more effectively. You could consider starting your day with a glass of warm water infused with a squeeze of lemon and a pinch of ginger. This can help activate the digestive system, aiding in the better absorption of food. Your diet should include warm, moist, nourishing foods that pacify Vata — think cooked grains like rice or quinoa, sweet fruits like bananas or mangoes, and dairy which are both soothing and grounding. Ghee is particularly effective in Vata imbalance. Consuming a teaspoon of ghee daily in your meals can nourish the tissues well. Incorporating herbs such as Ashwagandha and Shatavari can be beneficial too. Ashwagandha promotes muscle growth, enhancing body mass, while Shatavari is excellent for hydration and nourishment. You can make a simple tonic by mixing Ashwagandha powder with warm milk, ideally at night. Oiling the body daily with warm sesame oil, particularly focusing on the joints and dry areas, can help with dryness. This also includes hairfall management if you apply oil onto the scalp a few times a week. Keeping stress levels in check with breathing exercises or simple yoga postures ensures Vata remains balanced. Anulom Vilom Pranayama might help calm your mind and improve overall circulation. However, if these symptoms persist or worsen, it's important to discuss them further with a healthcare professional directly, especially regarding weight loss and weakness, to rule out any underlying conditions. Ensure adequate sleep and maintain a routine to keep your body systems in harmony. Remember, consistency with these practices will yield the best results.
