how to reduce thyroid tsh - #36485

Addison

I am really struggling with my thyroid health lately. I just got my test results and my TSH level is super high, like way above the normal range and I seriously don't know what to do. I was feeling really tired all the time, gaining some weight, and my mood's been all over the place. A friend suggested that I look into Ayurveda, and I’m a bit curious about how to reduce thyroid TSH through natural methods. I've heard that certain herbs or diets might help balance things out, but I'm not sure where to start. I eat ok, but I feel like my food choices could be better, especially if I want to know how to reduce thyroid TSH effectively. Someone mentioned Ashwagandha and I think some fish oils might also be good? Has anyone tried switching to a completely Ayurvedic diet to see results with TSH levels? I guess I'm also interested in whether stress plays a big role, cause I do feel overwhelmed with everything going on in my life right now. Any advice on how to reduce thyroid TSH? Should I be worried about this? Just feeling a bit lost, but really want to tackle this with a holistic approach. Thanks!

Addressing high TSH levels with Ayurveda involves balancing your body’s doshas and improving thyroid function using diet, lifestyle modifications, and specific herbs. First things first: understanding your dosha is crucial, so you might want to consult with a local Ayurvedic practitioner for a more personalized approach.

Now, Ashwagandha is great choice, as it’s known for its adaptogenic properties, aiding in stress relief and supporting healthy thyroid function. Incorporate about 3-5 grams of Ashwagandha powder with warm milk in the evening. Nonetheless, it’s important to ensure no contraindications especially if you’re taking other medicines.

Diet plays a significant role, prioritize foods that support Kapha and Vata balancing since these doshas often contribute to thyroid concerns. Fresh, warm, and cooked foods are preferable - avoid processed and junk food. Include iodine-rich foods like seaweed, which can aid thyroid function. Though fish oils are helpful, from an Ayurvedic perspective, focus on integrating ghee (clarified butter) as it supports digestion and balances Vata dosha - which often affects mental clarity and mood.

Meanwhile, stress management is pivotal. Yoga and pranayama (especially Bhramari and Nadi Shodhana) can greatly reduce stress and support thyroid health. Practicing regularly in a calm environment can enhance your mood and overall well-being. In terms of herbs, you could also consider the traditional Ayurvedic formula, Kanchanar Guggulu, under professional guidance since it’s known to support thyroid balance.

Remember, holistic approach takes time, be patient and consistent with your practices. Always communicate with your healthcare provider about any new regime, especially if your TSH levels remain high, as sometimes conventional medicine intervention becomes necessssary.
