Along with the allopathy medicines prescribed by the endocrinologist, I have been consuming kalayanka gritha from the past 2 years. The dosage is one teaspoon every morning before breakfast. Is it harmful to consume it for longer duration? Should I stop? The symptoms are reducing but when I skip for few days, the sypmtoms reappear. What should I do?

Hello, Kalyanaka ghritham is safe to consume. But every 6 months better to give a gap of 15 days and then continue. And also please get your self trainer in pranayama and meditation and make5hem as everyday practice. These 2 help you to come out of symptoms+help you to stop kalyanaka ghritham. Take care, Kind regards.

Kalayanaka Gritha is a classical Ayurvedic formulation known for its benefits in managing anxiety, memory issues, and mental clarity. It’s often used in the treatment of various psychological and neurological conditions. Given your history of hypothyroidism and PCOD, it’s important to closely monitor how this formulation interacts with both your condition and allopathic medications.
In short, long-term use of Kalayanaka Gritha generally isn’t harmful, but it’s crucial to follow the prescribed dosage and regularly review its efficacy and effects with your healthcare provider. Your body seems to respond positively to it, given the reduction in your symptoms. However, the re-emergence of symptoms upon skipping doses may indicate your system’s dependence on the formulation for managing them.
Continue use of Kalayanaka Gritha can be beneficial, provided it’s consistently monitored by your Ayurvedic physician. They can adjust the treatment if needed, and ensure it works harmoniously with your allopathic medication. Meanwhile, keep an eye on your digestion. Ghee-based formulations like Kalayanaka Gritha need a balanced Agni (digestive fire) for proper assimilation. If you experience heaviness or digestive issues, it could indicate imbalances requiring attention.
Consider incorporating lifestyle modifications to support your mental health and hormonal balance. Regular yoga, meditation and pranayama can synergize the effects of Kalayanaka Gritha. Consuming a balanced diet rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains can also aid overall wellbeing, given your PCOD and thyroid conditions. Regular follow-ups with both your Ayurveda and allopathy practitioners are advised to make informed decisions about your health.
