how to remove pitta from body - #41708

Isabella

I am really struggling with this heat in my body, like, I feel so restless and irritable all the time. My digestion is off too, like I get this burning sensation after meals, and I sweat way more than my friends do – it just feels excessive, ya know? I read somewhere that this could mean I have too much pitta, and I'm freakin' tired of it! Last week I even went for a checkup, and the doc said my temperature was slightly high, but didn't really suggest anything useful. I can't help but wonder how to remove pitta from body because I feel like it's affecting everything, my mood, my energy, like I'm just not myself! Tried some cooling foods, but can’t tell if they’re doing much. Also, I used to love spicy food, but now just the thought burns my stomach! I want to know, how to remove pitta from body without going crazy or maybe even making it worse! I’ve been trying to keep my cool, meditate a bit, but I could really use some advice on what else I should do. Is there like specific herbs or routines you all recommend? Or maybe even lifestyle changes? I just want to feel better! Please help!

Your symptoms indeed sound like a classic case of pitta imbalance, based on the heating qualities you’re experiencing. To begin balancing the pitta dosha, it’s important to focus on lifestyle and dietary adjustments. Start with avoiding very spicy, sour, salty and fermented foods — these tend to aggravate pitta. Instead, opt for cooling and sweet foods like cucumber, coconut water, and sweet fruits (like grapes, melons, and ripe bananas) as they help to soothe the fire element.

Make sure you’re staying hydrated. Drinking plenty of water infused with mint or a pinch of cumin can further help balance out pitta. Try including buttermilk in your diet, which is cooling and digestive-friendly. Herbal teas like chamomile, peppermint, or fennel are great choices as well.

Incorporate cooling herbs in your routine, such as aloe vera gel, amla (Indian gooseberry), and Guduchi (also known as Tinospora Cordifolia). These can be taken in powder or capsule form as advised by a professional, just to ensure accurate dosage according to your condition.

As for daily routines, consider rising early, ideally before sunrise, which harmonizes natural cycles and reduce pitta aggravation. Engage in calming activities like meditation, yoga or Tai Chi to help manage stress and maintain mental coolness. Practicing pranayama, specifically Sitali or Sheetkari Pranayama (cooling breath techniques), can be especially effective.

Minimize direct sun exposure and ensure you have time to relax in a cool, undisturbed environment; both can significantly increase pitta. Wearing cotton and loose-fitting clothing can also assist in keeping body temperature down.

For more targeted recommendations, it would be beneficial to visit an Ayurvedic practitioner who can tailor treatments specifically based on your constitution (prakriti) and the extent of the pitta imbalance. Regular Ayurvedic treatments, like shirodhara or abhyanga (oil massage with cooling oils like coconut oil and sandalwood oil) can be incredibly supportive when performed professionally.

However, keep a watch on how your symptoms progress; if there’s no improvement or things get worse, you might need further evaluation with a healthcare provider.

To manage and reduce excess pitta, focus on cooling, soothing and balancing your lifestyle and diet. Begin with dietary changes: Favor foods that are sweet, bitter, and astringent in taste while minimizing spicy, salty, and sour foods – as these can exacerbate pitta. Instead of spicy dishes, aim for cooling meals. Think of incorporating more cucumbers, leafy greens, and sweet fruits like melons. Dairy products like ghee and milk can also be soothing, provided they suit your digestive system.

Hydration is critical. Drink plenty of room-temperature or cool water throughout the day. Coconut water is an excellent choice due to its natural cooling properties. Avoid ice-cold drinks though, as they can agitate digestion.

Incorporate specific herbs known for balancing pitta. Amla (Indian gooseberry) is deeply cooling and can be taken as a supplement or powder mixed in water daily. Neem and Guduchi are also beneficial – these can be found in tablet form for ease of use.

In terms of lifestyle adjustments, prioritize calming and more lunar activities. Try practicing cooling pranayama like Sheetali or Sheetkari, which involves inhaling through a curled tongue or clenched teeth, to help dissipate heat from the body. Regular meditation and gentle exercises such as yoga, practiced in the early morning or evening when temperatures are cooler, can also be grounding.

Also, ensure you’re achieving adequate rest and maintaining a regular sleep schedule. Staying up late can irritate the pitta dosha. Keep your living environment cool and serene; soft lighting and soothing colors in your space can have a calming effect on your mind and body.

External therapies like frequent cool showers, applying sandalwood paste on the forehead, or bathing with rose water can provide immediate relief from any excessive heat.

Whilst trying home remedies, keep in mind some symptoms may require professional evaluation. If the burning sensation you experience persists or worsens, seek timely follow-up with a health professional, ensuring nothing more specific could be underlying your discomfort.
